Here's a list of wrong graffitis, signboard and posters.

I keep this post updated from time to time, as long as I find new errors.

Commisar's House:

mP7Kel.jpg

In-game inscription says:
"Здесь каждые каменные выстрелы! / Here every shots [made of] stone!".
Totally makes no sense in Russian, and kinda frustrating. :)

And what I believe TWI want to do on this sign is:
cRUjR.jpg

"Здесь стрелял каждый камень! / Here every stone was shooting!"
It's about heavy defense and tough firefights for every singe building.
Totally makes sense now. :)

sd2UWl.jpg

This one is a common in-game graffiti. And this is precisely the problem.
Well written (except capitals mixed with low case letters), but it says that building was defended by Sgt. Pavlov.

x9xH7l.jpg

Two missing letters in "Продукты" (Food; Food supplies), but signboard doesn't looks damaged at all.

Barracks:

OCpOr.jpg

Blackboard:
"School closed due to unforeseen circumstances."
Really? Does war is a "unforeseen circumstances"?
Kinda ironic, and if we consider the victims of that "unforeseen circumstances" is kinda cruel.

SdP9ll.jpg

"Not a step back - there is no land for us beyond [the] Volga [river]".
"Land" is strikethrough and replaced with "Воахи"...
What the **** is that "whoa-hee"? No such word, not any guess.

0al7yl.jpg

Mortar crew training scheme.
"Краю леса" (edge [of the] forest) - wrong declension.
I believe, some word might be missing.
Maybe it is "На краю леса", "До края леса" or most likely just "Край леса".

VAjqSl.jpg

Several Stalin's portraits on the level.
I don't know who's an artist, but it is post-Stalingrad work for sure: Shoulder marks first appears in Red Army only in January 1943.
upd: Artists V. Pravdin, N. Denisov, 1948.

mJpSbl.jpg

"Secret Political Department of the NKVD" - that kind of signs against every prison cell, does it's make sense?

gBfAN.jpg

English/American card deck, "A, K, Q, J" indexes, when back in days we had "Т, К, Д, В". :)

wnEjml.jpg

"Housekeeping <an adjective> [missing word]".
Word missing, and which one I can't tell.
"Административно-хозяйственная часть"? Yes, most likely.

Station:

bQcGDl.jpg

"Туалет" (toilet) - mirror-written.

B1nfSl.jpg

"Machine Parts" make sense in English, but not in Russian.
"Fragile!" word missing - have to be "Хрупкий груз!"

o2kZ5l.jpg

No such type of boxes in USSR. :D

Fallen Fighters:

JU7xwl.jpg

"Культтовароп" (recreational goods) - last letters is wrong, should be "Культтовары".

DVSsLl.jpg

Book title: "СЕКРЕТНО" (secret; classified). Oh, it doesn't looks secret at all, more like visitor register book. :D

Apartments:

JEcEZl.jpg

Post-war poster, guy holding AK rifle. Several topics on that subforum already. :)
Would you change it to this one, would you? :D
BvNxz.jpg

"Every boundary - [are the] crucial!"

2TXwPl.jpg

"Zlotnikov's fruit trade".
No. Just no. Have I explain why?
This signboard are clearly pre-revolutionary.
You guys must be seeing this on some old photos, like 1912 or so.
But in Stalingrad?... It's ridiculous, just like a Polish vodka.

L3yNwl.jpg

Those movie posters (like left one on the picture), many of them on that level, I'm reeeeeeeeally like em.
But all of them is 1926-1928 movies. Well, seem not "realistic", but fine for me yay!
"Cement" poster (one with a smiling guy) makes me smile too.

qk7U9l.jpg

"ОБОРОНЯЙТЕСЬ!" (Defend [yourselves]), Verb, plural, imperative mood.
Catchy one. Hard to explain. It's just doesn't seems real to find that word as a slogan.
It's like from the robots planet lol, if you know what I mean. "Non-alive", especially when compared with other.
I might be wrong, and TWI designers might seem that graffiti in old photos, but the fact is: I don't believe it, sorry.

Alright, I'm switched to ultra textures and take a closer look. :D
About Pavlov's one.

"<appeal to the> Motherland!
This house has defended Guards Sergeant
YAKOV FEDOtoVICH PAVLOV!"
HC1pcl.jpg

^ Here is a missing letter in "сержант" (sergeant).
It's more like "сержит" now. Rubbish, no such word.

Also, "гв." (short for "Guards") is absolutely looks like a capital "И".
I found that this is "гв." only after original photo.
RIvvS.jpg

4VFfEl.jpg

And as we can see now, mixed case of letters is because of that shell-hole.
In-game missing part is:
"Here fought heroically against the enemy Guardsmen of the Motherland: Ilya Voronov, Pavel Demchenko, Alexey Anikin, Pavel Dovisenko."

Red October:

oWEzml.jpg

"B" objective.
Sign says: "Сварка цех" (welding department).
Wrong, should be "Сварочный цех".

Grain Elevator:

ZNxu9l.jpg

Should be "СТОП", not "СТОИ".
Also, I'm not sure about that kind of road signs in USSR in '40s.

Update

Speaking of "Zlotnikov's fruit trade".
I goggled it, and guess what I found. :)

YulMPl.jpg

Bogomaterinskaya church, Smolensk, 1912.
[...] Entrance to the Church on the left side of the gate. And on the right - a store with a sign: "Fruit trade M.G. Zlotnikov." (Doors and windows are shuttered.) [...]
Do you guys recognize that building? ;)

Back to Barrack.
Infirmary, objective "D".
Medical supplies locker.
eZ2npl.jpg

"Скальпель" - scalpel. Only one it there? If not, "скальпели" then.
"Решение" - mean "solution" like a solution to a problem, but my guess it's supposed to mean "solution" like mixture composed, so it's should be "Раствор" then. :D
"Плазмы" - it's plurality for "plasma" (blood element), and there is no plural for plasma is Russian.

pzwUEl.jpg

"[missing word] [of the] Stalingrad Red Army House".
What, "Barracks"?

VMznIl.jpg

Canned goods.
"Свскид"? "Свекид"? "Свекнд"? No idea. Maybe "Свекла"? Mmm, canned beta, I bet it's tasty!

gl9Rnl.jpg

"Garrison Housing [missing word]". Commission most likely.
"Гарнизонная жилищная комиссия" then.

ezWgBl.jpg

"И" is backward to "N".

Hffxg.jpg

High voltage Jolly Roger:
"Stop! Life-threatening"
"СТОЙ", not "СТОИ".
"И" is backward to "N" also in "Жизни".
And electrical panel sign is pretty obvious one. ;)

The first and third I can understand the need to correct, but what if Sgt. Pavlov was just a raging BAMF that defended the entire eastern front from the Axis? He could be like the Chicago Ted of Red Orchestra 2.

I thought you paid attention to details Tripwire :) :) :)

This is actually a fascinating topic. World languages have never been my strong suit, and it's oddly compelling to see a native speaker correcting something that is totally unreadable to me.

This thread needs to stay bumped so they can correct their little spelling and grammar errors. They should hire you on to spell check for them before they release any more signs!

Lol, did you expect something else? За морем ничего не умеют производить русского, разве что кроме клюквы
Besides, there are more important issues like frequent crashes and low performance even on hi-end pcs

Great topic, thanks for the lesson. I try to learn russian, so maybe the game will help me in this, when they correct the little mistakes. Now I can read the cyrillic caracters, but I know only some words. :) I will have many times to read the corrected signs and learn the words, between two headshots. :D

Must have been "...для нас земли водки нет":D
"there's no land vodka for us beyond..."

"Fragile!" word missing - have to be "Хрупкий груз!"
It should be just "Запчасти"(spare parts), but i doubt about "fragile" - you can't break soviet machine spare parts even with a hammer :D

Book title: "СЕКРЕТНО" (secret)

I don't think the "unforeseen circumstances" is necessarily wrong (not talking about any possible linguistic errors, just the phrasing). It wouldn't refer to the war but to the war the battle actual closing in on the city.

speaking of silly phrases on blackboards , that were supposed to be funny i'd only note that for Soviet Union and Russia, and i'm almost sure for USA of that time it was not typical to write like a typing machine neither with chalk, nor with ink.

soviet campaign was epic crap too, propaganda style used to show soviet propaganda looked anything but not soviet, american most likely, not to say whole storytelling was a boring mix of cliches.

i did not expect such careless attitude to details, especially most obvious ones, i wouldnt be surprised if it was another call of duty or steven seagals movie.

What a carefully crafted post! Good stuff man. I'm here looking for solutions to other game-breaking bugs, but this post was a good time-out. It's amazing how a random dude off the internet could pick up so many cultural inconsistencies when the tripwire interactive team went to such lenghts for accuracy. Even travelled to Russia and such. Nothing beats the internet to find the best pool of talent in the world.

This is all an elaborate game set up by Tripwire, and the first person to fix all of these typos will be rewarded.

This topic really doesn't belong in this sub forum. This isn't a bug, just a minor oversight on the part of the developers.
