wow, I do not speak Russian but the amount of photos is breathtaking. Great find

+1

There are some real neat photos, too! I am surprised at the number of mounted troops the Russkies had!

EDIT: Some very interesting pics from what I presume was the Russo-Japanese war, unless the Russians went into combat against the Japanese during WWII?

More specifically the Sovs declared war on Japan on 8 August - the A-bomb was dropped on Hiroshima on 5 August and then on Nagasaki, 9 August. The Japanese accepted surrender terms on 14 August. There was some combat action between the two during that 6 day window of time, mostly in Manchuria and Mongolia. I'll say nothing of the Kuril Islands lest this turn into a political discussion. IIRC, technically speaking, Japan and Russia have not signed a peace treaty ending WWII because of their dispute over the status of four islands in the chain.

EDIT: Small correction to the above info. The Soviet Union and Japan did sign a separate joint declaration in 1956 ending hostilities and restoring diplomatic relations, however, they still have not signed a formal peace treaty officially "ending the war".
