Can RO SDK editor and the game's practice mode be run without having to connect to STEAM? If yes, how does one go about running the editor while not connected or logged onto the STEAM server?

Thanks for any help.

you don't have to be online to run steam, the RO SDK or RO in practice mode. Just start steam while not connected to the internet and it will run in offline mode (you won't lose any features other than not being able to browse the store or play games online). I'm not sure it is possible however for you to run either RO or the SDK without steam running. You can create shortcuts on your desktop etc but these will just log you onto steam before running the program. Steam shouldn't eat up that much memory while using the programs so you shouldn't really have to worry about that if that is your concern.

I know it was possible to run the sdk offline, by adding a steam.dll to your system folder, you had to then remove it to play online or it would give you an error.

Not sure if this still works or not though, I have not tried it for a long time now.

Thanks Aeneas & Exocet. I could not for some reason, connect to STEAM a couple of days ago. This got me to wondering if I could still open the editor without being connected to STEAM -- like say when I have to travel to the in-laws house for an extended weekend. They have no internet access. While visiting them I often find myself with a fair bit of time on my hands -- so why not take the opportunity to play with the RO map editor on my laptop. :D
