Run game in Directx8?

I'm trying to play Silent Storm again and it won't work with my 4650. Well, the first 3 levels run fine, but on the 4th it ALWAYS crashes about an hour into it (I've tried about 5 times now), right as I'm making progress too

So I wanted to try running the game in directx8. How do I do this? I know there's some kind of thing I can put into the command line in the shortcut or something but dunno what. Please be specific, thanks.

Hm. I -think- you can do it by forcing the compatibility to an earlier version of Windows. In Vista, right click on it, click Properties. Click on the Compatibility tab and check 'Run this program in compatibility mode for:' and select whatever you want. It's similar for XP.
