Sam Hulick:

For anyone attending GDC next week, be sure to stop by Tripwire's booth (#2334) to say hi, check out some never before seen footage of Heroes of Stalingrad, and get a sneak "peek" at some of the new music!

new music previews and footage sounds nice :)

Might want to join the crosshairs show this sunday - Soulzz and I will be there, and at GDC. I'll be busy with tech/investment stuff, but will try to hook up with some TWI for a bite, but he has scheduled play time with them (most generous of TWI, I need not say).

You can hit us up with what items you'd like us to poke at, perhaps, on the show.

I've always played ROOST with the music turned off, but I will turn it on in RO2 because it's made by Sam Hulick, the hero of Mass Effect :D

I turned off the music in RO1 because I didn't really like it. It was very electronic sounding and just didn't float my boat. I much rather preferred to play my own music.

But seeing as so much work is going into the music this time around, I am rather curious to see how good it is and how well it fits into the game.

same reasons why i turned off the music in ROOST....just wasn't that great. plus, i don't care about music much during multiplayer matches anyway.....it's more distracting than it is enjoyable. although, i do hope that the singleplayer campaign is good enough because that is something i'd definitely keep the music on for :)

What comes into my mind when I read the words "game music" is Warcraft 2, Doom 2 and Red Alert. For me those games would have been totally dull without the imho awesome music =).

I keep the music on. Not really sure why, I guess it just gives that Soviet tone.
It depends on what mood I'm in. I think I'm like a lot of people where when I want to focus on not dying alot and pulling off difficult shots I turn off music to avoid distractions. But when I don't really give a **** about my team I crank it up and try to make an epic experience out of it.

That's why music in WoW and other similar games work well with constant music -- alot of times you are doing menial tasks and the music really makes those things come alive, especially if the game has an immersive environment.

I think the only music I've ever enjoyed in games has been through the rainbow six series. Always had some good epic music that just seemed to fit the whole 'you are a member of an elite counter terrorism team, you may die but you are going to save lives' vibe.

other than that, meh I can't recall any music from any games.

oh, except probably for the total war series, music is a MUST to complete the immersion and distract you during menial tasks as mentioned by HW

Listening music while playing a mp shooter seems weird to me. There is already so much to listen (game sounds, game voice chat, 3rd party circumventing voice comms) that the music is just distracting.
Perhaps add an option to choose to listen music while waiting for spawn?

It sounds like the music wont be overwhelming, just a background indicator of the flow of the game and your perception of the battle. Ill probably keep it on.
