For Denmark atleast, it is often said that they make the country more money than they cost us, especially the Asian market really loves Royalty, and that paves the way for alot of lucrative buisness, but there's also tourism, and ofcourse, they are valuable in diplomatic relations, some of which also keeps trade booming between Denmark and other parts of the world.

The same goes for the Swedish royal family. The PR they generate for us surpasses the cost of having them many times around.

To me it seems stupid to get rid of something that generates money for this country (without going to war and/or stealing other countries resources).

Oh and also Princess Madeleine is awesomley hot.

I would hit both

Belgian royalties hardely have any power here. The prime minister is the real boss.

Power over which part of the country?

If you think about the money a state makes and spents (they get billions of tax money etc) 40 million are a joke, the money they cost is not a very good argument against Royals.

However I don't miss the Emperor

Our official Head of State is the Queen of Canada, Elizabeth the Second.

How ****ed up is that?

While actor Peter Stormare was visiting Minnesota and North Dakota during the filming of Fargo, he noted that the Swedish immigrant population seemed more patriotic than the actual Swedes he grew up around, with portraits of the Royal Family in every other window and Swedish flags flying side by side the American on people's front porches etc. He said it practically brought a tear to his eye the kind of spirit these people had, so far from their homeland.

Well its not like they have any power. She keeps her nose well out of any kind of politics. She's just a figurehead wheeled out for diplomatic duty now & again.

The one thing thats keeping them there, and I hate to admit it, is the shear amount of revenue brought in by tourism to London & Buckingham Palace. Tourists love them & if you took them away, London suddenly becomes a dull place to visit!

I wish our country could make money off the tools that ran our country.
In effect , once you calculate cost/revenue our losers are probably costing more than yours.

Sounds like something made up by someone who likes the royals. I'd like to see the proof for that.

And having a hot princess is no excuse for shoving taxpayer money up her and her families butt.
