can serverhosts decide if they want locked tanks or not?

32 players on 1 team and 5 tanks

so they can have 5 tanks and 27 players versus 5 tanks and 17 players

yes, the tank is filled with bots but... some bots are better than some public players ^^

One of the many reasons I avoided tanking was it gave the absolute opposite of the atmosphere of the game.

As infantry you had the gritty, horrific battlefields getting torn apart by artillery and tank shells and all the incoming fire. The tank was just a narrow viewslot where you just hoped you didn't blow up.

Now with the crew animated inside with the possibility of them dying, or screaming to escape the burning tank, you just brought the horror to the vehicles.

I can officially say I will do my best to spread the word about this game as much as I can, and I eagerly await its release!

Uhm, wasn't there a response a couple of hours ago from Ramm I think stating that the crew wont be able to get out of their tank and only replace any dead members when they are back at the resupply area? At least that's what I understood...

You would think that they will allow for this since Countdown will include setting bombs to destroy the objectives. And if your the only one left in the tank then you should be the one doing it.
I don't think you would even have the ability to set a demolition charge.

Well if you're trying to demo a door or artillery, it would be nice if you could RAM it. Realistic if you could shoot it, but either of these could ruin a map due to gameplay reasons.

Blacklabel how do you have such a low rep? You're literally the only person I've seen on here with more than one or two red squares. You trying to get the "Blacklabel is as infamous as a tiger" rep?

The interview was great and it shows that they are dedicated to making a true successor to RO.

I am quite concerned about anti-social tankers now though.

The thing I hated the most about the first game was people who would hop in a tank and then refuse to cooperate with anyone else and throw a fit and scream get out of my tank etc. Even when their teammates were fairly skilled they would refuse to allow anyone else in their tank.

The tank locking system seems to promote this behavior to a whole new level.

Some of my most satisfying moments in RO were when I had a full tank crew and we worked together effectively. It really gave you a sense of what it was like to be in the tanks ( as far as video games could at the time at least)

Once Yosh and Schneidzekk get together after PAX, that should be set as the highest possible negative rep - 'X has a reputation close to a King Tiger' - but BlackLabel is still working on it. He's got a ways to go, treading the paths of evil and unrigheousness, before he can reach those depths of shamefulness.

He's working on it, though, and we're trying to help him as much as we can. :D

lol now that you mention it, a few minutes ago I was playing in TBW servers, and some guy asked me to "leave his tank". I refused and began to drive in circles to annoy me. I didn't mind, becuase I have a tv next my pc, so I grabbed the remote and forgot about him. It lasted almost the whole round xD
Finally, "nWDesertfox" got tired and run to enemy lines to kill us. hehehehe

I will have to wait and see how the mouse aim works with ROHOS. TWI already said that its not like those Other fps, so that is a step in the right direction. It would be nice to have the option to retain the ROOST method, or at least go into the .ini and set the keys ourselves.

I don't have a problem with tankers exiting and leaving the vehicles as it happened in real life sometimes. In some instances it would be nice.

I too would be a bit concerned that you could get stuck in a tank with another tanker who went off the deep end and was totally uncooperative. It would be decent to have the option to at least exit the vehicle in this case. I know it was mentioned that at least in stock maps there will be as many tanks as tankers, but at some point you will probably have different tanks available, or custom maps where there are less tanks than tankers and some problems may arise...

Hopefully the AI crew won't be infallable, but at least able to follow the commands and directions of the live player commanding the tank. I still like to think that a set of competent team tankers will have the advantage over a single player in a tank with AI.

Overall, these are just minor concerns considering how decent everything looks and appears to operate.

Douchebags online is a great reason to keep a book near your PC. I do. When people used to drop-hack in Company of Heroes I'd just type into chat "I'm going to read my book let me know when you're done being a moron" and read. They'd eventually get irritated and leave or allow the game to resume. Quite amusing really.

The rep system on this forum is interesting too. I got a whole bunch of negative ratings by our resident SS roleplayers from that thread about tanking in HoS weeks back. They even decided to look up my old posts to hit the negative rating button on them. I didn't realize people cared that much about the ratings system.

We're considering retaining an option to aim with the arrow keys still, but the movement keys are used to give movement commands to the driver. Also, the mouse controls don't work anything like "those other games" of you mean COD or BF. It is more like recent tank sims Kharkov or t34 vs tiger. But the big thing is it's more intuitive for players that never played RO Ostfront, which we all want to grow the playerbase. And it doesn't instantly rotate or anything, they still rotate at realistic speeds.
Thanks for the reply. I understand why you are doing it -- I'm just stating my opinion.

Maybe if you made it so that the tank turret literally cannot move diagonally, but has to move along X and Y planes. I guess I'll have to see it in action.

That said, there is a TON of amazing info in this article. Like the fully interactive tank cockpits, AI manning the other positions, and the advanced damage model.

One question I have is whether there will be radius based sound in the game, like via VOIP, so that people in a tank can actually communicate with eachother because they are all close together. Or, just a better system for communicating with people inside your tank than RO1 had.

The biggest standout of this sort of article is it shows just how dedicated all you guys at Tripwire REALLY are to the game and all of us in the community. It's really great to see and I hope it never changes when you guys reap the success of this and future games.

Ramming or shooting an objective sure, I just mean I don't think the crewman would leave the tank and go set an explosive device by his lonesome.
