Hi, im new to UDK and RO2 mapping and i just decided to give it a shot. I was following some terrain making tutorial and when i wanted to apply a texture, then basically i dont have any textures (terrain specifically).. And when using a search bar (searching for grass or snow for example) then all i see are some audio files or textures for 3D models. For me it seems like a lot of mapping content is missing for some reason..

Here is a screenshot if it provides any info..: http://i.imgur.com/mmrRDWM.png

You have the props_vehicle package selected on the left-hand side of the content browser, so it's only going to show what's in that package while you search.

Yes, scroll all the way up to the top root of the packages, should be called External Packages or something. If it doesnt appear, click that small button with the horizontal lines on it above the penci, next to the word Packages.

To add material to your map you will need to add a Terrain Setup layer. Then add a Terrain Material. The Terrain Material is where you will assign the actual material from the content browser like dirt, grass, rock...

Here is a fairly straightforward guide: http://forum.train2game.com/showthread.php/4145-How-To-adding-terrain-texture-in-UDK

You will also need to load all of the content packages manually as not all of them show when you initially open the SDK. You're going to want to load some of the ENV_ packages as well as all of the standard RO2 packages.

First, find the ENV_Landscape package in the content browser. Now, right-click and select "fully load". It will then load all of the standard landscape materials and textures. Keep in mind that you will only be able to add the ones labeled "material" or "material instance constant" to your terrain.

Next, fully load the standard RO2 packages. Look for one titled, "Props_Apartments" and click it. Now, scroll down to one called "Props_Village. Hold your shift key and click on it. It should select all of the props packages from Apartments on down. Now right-click and select "fully load". It will load up a bunch of those packages but not all if them Repeat these steps 3 of 4 more times and you will have loaded up pretty much all you need to get started. Oh, you'll have to repeat this every single time you open the SDK. Every single time.

Welcome to the club. The support group meets every Monday :D
