RO2 disconnects my internet when attempting to log on to a server. I can get a list of servers, although I can't refresh them.

When I click on a server I get the load screen and it hangs because it has disconnected my internet.

RO1 worked (and still works) fine.

At the moment I can only play single player which isn't what I signed up for

For what it is worth I already tried installing the two files thing for the 0 servers problem and that fixed nothing.

Thanks.

I seem to be having a similar problem.

I can see the list of servers come on, but as soon as I refresh or select any filter, they all vanish. When I then proceeded to try and search for an anwser online, my internet was dead for another minute or so.

This happened three times, my internet is perfect unless I try to get online in Red Orchestra.

I have exactly the same issue.

Had to register just to say this. Yep the same thing, i started to think i was going crazy, cause why would a game turn off my connection. Kinda happy that I'm not the only one

Might be that most people have this problem, but don't realise it cause well, I most of the time when I'm playing something i watch/listen to stuff on youtube etc and quite quickly noticed that my net is down when it couldn't find any servers. Once xfire starts working for RO 2 i assume more people will notice it since xf will inform them, that they lost connection.

Well at first I thought I was getting a more common problem with steam, meaning I can't see any servers. Then I opened up my browser and thought my connection must have failed.

Then it did that two more times later on.

If that is a coincidence I will buy a hat and eat it.

There are already several threads on these forums talking about the same problem. Essentially, when you request the list of servers, you're getting responses back from LOTS of servers, which is lots of incoming requests on your router or the router of your ISP--most routers have protection against this (to protect against things like denial-of-service attacks) and will shut down temporarily.

This happens to me even if I don't use the router and connect directly to the line in; this is why I suspect the ISP is doing something similar, essentially gimping my internet connection.

A work-around is to use the steam server browser (view->servers). However, if you refresh this enough times in succession, it will also kill your internets.

I'm sure Tripwire is working on it, as it has been a known issue for at least a few weeks now.

You can do like others have suggested on this forum and disable security stuff in your router settings (can't remember all the things), which I tried without success. Like I said, I think internet providers are blocking concurrent incoming requests when they arrive in large numbers.

Thanks for the replies so far guys.

Just to be clear this isn't the zero server bug (although it could be related).

The game literally switches off my interwebs whenever I try to connect to any server from the server list.

I have to reboot my system to get the interwebs back.

That's strange you have to reboot. Usually I can just wait a minute or two and the internet comes back. Sometimes I reboot my router, but I can't tell if that actually fixes it, or it just is fixed in the time it takes me to reboot my router. I have never had to reboot my computer.

Same here, waiting a minute or two restores my connection.

Thanks again for the replies guys. Took a look at some of those linked threads and I can only sum it up (politely) by saying 'ugh'...

Looks like Tripwire are being either lazy or clueless about the whole issue, and I don't have much faith that I'll ever be able to play multiplayer.

Kinda ironic that I have had so much fun with RO1 that this was the only game I broke my 'never pre-order' rule for. Sod's Law I guess!

I have a problem that I think may well be related to this, since the last patch.

I have problems getting the list of servers to show up. It eventually does, but there's various CPU hitching before I actually get into game on the server. About 10 seconds after joining a server, everyone continues moving in the direction they were previously, and I am left alone and have clearly been disconnected from the server (although it doesn't tell me I have been).

This reminds me of the Thompson router bug with Killing Floor and RO1. It's as if my router expects an answer to its query within a certain period of time, isn't getting it and so disconnects from the server.

Unplayable for me now, unfortunately.

Edit* I can connect to one or two, and can use the console 'reconnect' command, just like in the good old KF days if it disconnects me. Usually get the sound bug when I do, though :(
