I love both BF3 and RO2.

BF3 knows the audience it's trying to cater to, it has both huge maps (Caspian Border) and horrid linear maps for Rush (operation metro). It does both things pretty well to be honest, I'm not a big fan of the COD-Style Rush mode but it separates the two crowds. Rush can be fun and different from playing Conquest if you're looking for more infantry-oriented combat, while Conquest is wide open with jets/helicopters/tanks.

RO2 however, doesn't seem to know who it's trying to cater to. It's trying to maintain it's hardcore game play while toning it down for new comers by burrowing elements from the CoD series and a little bit of Battlefield at the same time. So what you get is the hardcore audience who doesn't approve and the casual crowd who doesn't approve, it's awkwardly in the middle of the two audiences. However that's just my opinion, I still play both. :)

I'll be playing bf3 just because I can get over 27 fps...I get 27fps in RO2 on the lowest settings. i get 70 on high in bf3.

And that is the only reason I will play it over ro2.

BUT ITS BETA? if bf3 is a beta wtf would you call this game?

Holy ****ing ****! I just thought it it was lag, bug, CoD-style networking or perhaps a hacker but this happens to every single match with "odd" deaths happening to me but its a design feature? My god, this is more broken (if it runs on your system, that is) than anything in RO2 by far and for those of you too lazy to read the thread:

LOL

I'm not defending it in any way but wow....WOW. like that type of stuff never happens in RO2.......if it runs on your system, that is.

I have been killed many a times in ro2 long after I have already laid down in a trench (or behind some solid cover)

There are some way over powered guns in bf3 beta though, the UMP and the PKP come to mind as ridiculously over powered.

At least in ro2 there arnt any OP weap..oh....nevermind.

Point is, bf3 is a game. RO2 is a game. They are both jacked up. at least one of them is still in beta though.

EDIT: I just want to be able to play a damn game without jumping through configs, coaxing it to play. I will take either.

I find it amazing that the BF3 beta not only looks a million times better than the retail version of RO2, but that it also runs a million times better.
"Looks a million times better"? I mean beauty lies in the eye of the beholder, but exactly where is BF3 looking better? Ok, they have nice shaders and tessellation and I love how the environment is dynamic, but I was pretty turned off by the extremely low poly models used in BF3. And I am not exactly a fan of the cartoony artificial lightning and colors.

THIS!!!! x10000000000000000000000000000000000000

I'm glad ii'm not the only person out there who feels this way, I havent been playing alot of RO2 and at present have only played the game in total of 42 hours compared to my RO1 hours of 75 and 103 in DH.

I'll come back to RO2 when they have figured out who they are trying to market the game towards and actually focus on that market.

On RO2 its possible to play on most servers but with it being set up up like BF3 unless everyone on the server has perfect pings there are going to be major pains. On Ro2 I get many "Gah" deaths where I should have been a split second faster but on BF3 its much worse, I am get on getting registrar hits which dont do any damage, for example I can hit a guy for quite a while with the markers up showing but when a team mate kills him I get no assist. Its not happening just a few times, its pretty much every match...

COD kid shows BF "realism" crowd why a 25 kill-streak with a pistol is not only possible, but lives in your spawn.

that is no where near the attacker spawn

and I guess I should of recorded my 14 rifle butt streak in ro2 as I ran around like an *** clown.

What point are you trying to get across?

I think I know what Im seeing here, a bunch of people playing for the first time. that would not happen now. and who said bf3 is realistic? it's more realistic then cod.

Well i've tried the beta, not impressed with the only map available, nor the graphics or gameplay. If it representative of the rest of the game RO2 will be getting more hours from me.

I hope with the large conquest maps and some hardcore/realism server settings it will be a lot better..but i've player 3 rounds on Metro and won't be playing it again.

I prefer the gritty graphics & detailed environment of RO2 any day.

It was BF 1942 that got me into MP gaming, so i have a soft spot for the series, but it seems to have got worse with each version, i hope this beta (with metro only) is not representative of the full game.

I will agree with that, rush is stupid, and that map is terrible. i was hoping it would take actual objectives ala moh

Later down the road I came upon RO1. I loved this game for its realism, and the strange ability it had on my gameplay to change from run and gun to watch every little corner and window.
You loved RO1 for its realism. And there are the other people (RO1 veterans too) saying that RO1 wasn't realistic. Whom to trust?

ChaoticRambo said:
#1 - Playing maps on a best of three scale - this turns each battle into a game instead of a war.
#2 - [Shift] zoom - terrible all around, all it should do is hold your breath, we don't have bionic vision even in modern times
#3 - Spawning close to the combat - turns it into a run and gun game
1 - It is a game. And it will always be. Thank God, I would say.
2 - There is no zoom.
3 - Spawning close to the combat often doesn't work and you need to walk all the way from your main spawn point. Often you can take a bullet in a "safe zone", so I move from cover to cover just in case.

Other than that you have right as a human being to make your own opinion. There is nothing wrong in that. I wish you luck with BF3.

I and my clan mates have been looking forward to this release for a long time. Many of us have been having a hoot with it since the beta release. We have devoted time and money launching servers to support it. Never once during that entire time have I felt a compelling need to rush into a BF3 forum to reassure those folks of the merits of my chosen game as opposed to theirs. Too busy. Don't care.

ive been trying the bf3 beta again today - i wish it could be more hardcore because i shouldnt have to shoot a guy in a tshirt 9 times just to put him down. what a joke. im thinking THIS is what makes its so hyper run and gun - theres no fear. i swear i lose more kills because ive got to shoot one guy a thousand times and they just turn around and one shot me.

its hard to find a full server on ro2 now but i still keep coming back. in ro2 i can really play my type of game because it rewards sneakiness and it has a terrifying fatality to the battlefield. i hope they dont nerf the stats like the rumor going around. ive been working on my mg skills and finally am getting better percentages.

I didn't read anyone's posts, but I read the title so I will talk on that. I will be buying BF3, but i still LOVE RO2, I can have both and I plan on doing so. The only way I will be on BF3 more is if the optimizations they are doing, that a lot of us need, don't work, or don't come out by then. In RO2 I get about 20 FPS on average, but often dips down to 10. In BF3 I get amazing FPS(not sure the number don't have a program to check it out, but it feels like it's about75-80) with graphics way up.

I heard some people say that BF3 is not realistic and generally "noobish"... I don't see what is wrong with it. It plays much more realistically than any COD game I have seen, but it still if very fluid and fast-paced fun. As I said before, I LOVE RO2, it is an amazing game, but playing with FPS at 10-20 is not fun, and generally aggravating. But rest assured even though I will get BF3, I will never truly put this game down; and I bet a lot of people who say they will ditch this game for BF3 will be back once the bugs are fixed and the game runs better.

And now I shall be flamed.... :(
