RO starting to really P*ss me off

Your right, doesn't sound like it...Other than testing your memory, my only suggestions would be those suggested in the help section here.

Logs aren't going to help us here anymore. But it is interesting that they are freezing near the same place it seems.

If we require more info we will ask. And once again I urge you to consider requesting a steam refund if you do not want to wait for a fix (as it would take some time)

One thing you could try is to create a second partition, or get a second small HDD, install a fresh copy of XP, patches, drivers etc. and only install RO as application.
This way you could exclude the possibility of a corrupt part in the Win OS causing the issue.

Because you've got a dual-core processor I assume you've tried setting the affinity for steam / RO to just 1 core? This can be done through starting the game then bringing up task magager, going to the processes tab, then right clicking RO and clicking "set affinity", and unchecking one of the boxes. You will need to do this each time you run the game.

Also - I have heard that there was / is a problem with UT2003 and maybe others with AMD x2 processors. I've also heard that a possible solution is to set the program to run in windows 98/ME compatibility mode. Easiest way is to make a shortcut to RO from steam, right click on the shortcut, select properties, goto the compatibility mode tab and select the option there. I think this is part of the same solution, as running with emulation mode makes the game unaware of the second core.

No idea whether this works but it is something I remember having heard. If you can't get into the task manager because it crashes too soon then there is a shareware program called ROPE (RunOnProcessorExplicitly) that you can get which will do the same thing but better, you only need to do it once.

CPU Maximum Temperatures

Following on from the cooling article we look at the maximum temperatures of CPU's. Even though we use fans and heatsinks CPU temperatures can still raise if they are being used at full power for a long period of time. Using CPU's at high temperatures can lower cause system crashes in the short term and in the long term cause the life of your CPU to be greatly reduced. In extreme cases your CPU could burn out or melt onto the motherboard. This usually happens when a fan breaks down and goes unnoticed. Today's motherboards come with temperature monitoring software and hardware which actually shuts the computer off the CPU temperature gets too hot. Even these however are not 100% fail proof. The only way to be sure is to check your fans and other cooling equipment regularly and also use CPU thermometers to check your CPU temperature is stable and not raising over time. CPU's have a rated maximum temperature sometimes called a critical temperature. What this boils down to (quick pun :} ) is what the manufacturer states is the maximum temperature the CPU will operate at. This is not to say you want your CPU to operate at this temperature as it will be borderline between working and burning out. Always try to keep at least 20C below this value if you can. Below is a table showing you the critical temperatures for most of the CPU's we use today.

Please be aware that as faster models are released even under the same name the thermal requirements may change. this table is meant for a guide only and Critical temperature is often referred as Critical Case temperature as CPU core temperatures are difficult to report accurately.

Have you tried removing the game from your hard-drive completely and re-downloading from Steam? If the game is associated with your account then you don't need your CDs.

Still having this issue and no it's not heat. Temp settings are in the mid 40 to low 50 range on a socket 478 p4 3.2ghz I even tried makeing ro use two logical processors, the HT stuff.

I had a similar problem, i would go into server and play but it was like i get timed out shortly, so there i was running along and the next thing i know im stairing at a wall and the last 10 secs didnt count, so i checked my RO log file and i got similar warnings with accessed none in them.

What i did to fix this was because i have a wireless router i pluged my computer directly into the router thats it.

The lenth of time and frequency increases the longer i play and can last up to 20 secs. The problem as Yoshiro explaind it was due to the Accessed None in the log, ROO can't find files. Yoshiro told me to Verify Cache, that didn't work, then told me to reinstall ROO and Steam. You should try that. For more info search forum for Accessed None.

Nope, I have reinstalled RO several times, verified cache. Reinstalled WinXP. Didn't work for me, I'm still having problems. Removed .blob, removed /system /animations /maps directories. Nothing has worked yet, It's very frustrating. :mad: It appears that some machine configurations might be getting a GPF were others don't.

sorry I didnt make it very clear.

I fixed my problem by connecting my computer directly to my router, before it was wireless.
