Make two kinds of collector's edition a German and a Soviet one.
So it differs in the loadouts like this:

German or Soviet Steelhelmet
Knights Cross or Hero of Soviet Union Order
German or Soviet dogtag
German or Soviet tank glue kit

The rest comes for both the same

What if I want all of it?

Automatic search isn't finding any similar threads.

What do we want to see in a collectors edition? I for one want it to be extremely extravagant because the regular edition is going for so cheap, like maybe each comes with a piece off of an actual T-34 or something along with the usual goodness like soundtrack and artbook and making-of DVD.

Other ideas:
Big strategic map of the Stalingrad area with important dates and locations shown.
DVD with a documentary on the eastern front. One of the main selling points of RO has always been the historical realism, putting a National Geographic documentary in there will go great with the game.
Stickers/patches/fridge magnets of the different Soviet and Wermacht army rank insignias.
Empty/blank cartridges from some of the weapons in the game, dud stick grenade if you want to get really fancy.
Propaganda posters of the era, both sides had really cool ones.
T-shirts with the above propaganda on them, or just with the RO2/Tripwire logo.
Miniature German/Russian language glossary, learn to yell real Russian orders at your comrades outside of the game.
Replica officer cap, I would suggest a helmet but those would probably be too hard/expensive to produce and transport.

I could see some political / news fallout over distributing propaganda posters from either Germany or the Soviet Union at the time.

There are plenty of people who would be offended from either or both sides.

Any kind of video/image/audio material would ofcourse be plenty possible, making-of's, the soundtrack, concept art, Dev commentary and that sort of thing.

Toys and trinkets, on the other hand, would probably be more risky for a small Dev, they could potentially get burned pretty badly if they overestimate how many players would buy an SE/LE copy.

Maybe they should set up a gift shop? Like what Valve and others do, they might even be able to get in on thouse shops with some TWI stuff, sell some TWI/HoS T-shirts, IS-2 plushies and whatnot.

If there is a collectors edition, I hope that the only difference will be the physical goodies. Meaning, I wouldn't like the CD-Key to be distinguished in any practical way with the standard version.

Here is my plan:

I'll pre-order one from Steam to ensure I'll be playing since the very moment its available.

I'll pre-order a physical collectors edition to get the stuff included in it, and then give it's key to one of my friends. It would suck if that key included any distinction for Steam, cause then I would only be buying that version only.

yep metal cases are cool, I prefer them to just be stamped not a fan of painted ones, cant believe I forgot about the soundtrack! definitely want that in a special edition.
