RO crashes my PC

I re-verified the files, they are OK. When I start RO from Steam, it draws a small bit of red at the top of the screen & then freezes my PC. If I reboot, XP error reporting says the crash was caused by a device driver. I have a Radeon X600 & have Catalyst 6.2 drivers. Any ideas why it crashes ???
