About the tanks.....

Sure, some cosmetics need addressing and the sights need attention but face it Gumrak is fun to play with a bunch of tanks going at it. You need to LEARN how to operate them. They are far more detailed in their operation than RO/DH ever was. After one realizes they must learn the finer points of tanking in RO 2, they'll never look back.

The first time I got into a tank in RO 2.... I was hammered left and right simply because, I didn't know what I was doing. I fully expected that I'd do as I did in RO/DH - WRONG!! There much more to tanking in RO2.

Learn and be satisfied
It never ceases to amaze me how people would rather curse the darkness than light a candle. RO2 is a major advancement over RO - period! Get used to the idea that RO 2 is NOT a re-skinned RO or DH.

A Current RO 2 Overview

RO 2 plays better, has vastly superior grafx, smoother game play and fully flexible game play. The weapons, ALL of them, work much better and produce satisfying results.

New maps and vehicles are in the mill along with additional improvements and fixes. High quality custom maps, mutators and mods are right around the corner.

As for the AVT-40 and the Mkb.42, they're fine and fun to use. Believe this;
Between the AVT40 and the PPSH.. the Germans have a real problem. If you want to be a German, you had better make certain of what you are doing or you'll be chop meat in no time at all.
RO2 is a a game unto itself. Its not meant to be a sequel to RO its merely a distant relative to RO. RO 2 allows the neat movements we all became familiar with in many other games. No more slogging through wet cement, getting hamstrung by clotheslines, stopped by bushes, hampered by low fences and walls and no more legs sticking through walls and especially being trapped in a room or closed in area by an idiot team mate who refuses get out of the way.

RO2 is just getting started, many of the RO veterans are unhappy mostly IMHO, because they must learn the NEW in RO 2 and they resent that. They are no longer superior to the new players and have no decided advantage over anyone. I'm not saying they are snobs or elitist asshats but then again, I'll leave that up to the other players to decide.

What I will say is the game is fun to play and highly entertaining. You get eight to ten players going in a map like Spartanovka, and the suspense, stalking and sheer energy in the game play is amazing. Many times I've heard players say they were startled by someone. That's true immersion folks. I've been there since day one and you can believe this;
Ninety-Nine percent of the griefers and gripers are fast realizing they are not going to exercise any control over how or what TWI does. In particular, they will not succeed in forcing TWI to dumb down and otherwise make RO 2 more RO. Remember, control freaks finish last.
RO 2 is superb and is only going to get better with every passing week. Looking back at TWI's past support for RO indicates to me that we are on the verge of seeing RO 2 become the PC Gaming Community's favorite FPS game simply because of the ongoing support and enhancements. A good eighty percent of the release complaints are gone and the remainder are about to be history.

In all fairness to TWI, its time the immature threats, whinging and whining came to a close and everyone harmoniously joined in striving to make RO 2 the place to be.

Me? I'm enjoying myself to no end playing RO 2. Every day, I notice something else I hadn't seen or done before. If people spent more time playing and less time griping, they too would see how much fun RO 2 really is.

Funny to hear you say that. I seem to remember getting perma-banned from your server after a lot of yelling and crying, and accusations of cheating -- just because you died in a tank a few times without getting a kill. I'd say the person who bans anyone better than themselves has a pretty sizable advantage over everyone else left. No, The RO1 vets I've talked to and know have not had any trouble adapting to the new game mechanics, they simply do not like the gameplay that those mechanics foster.

+1

I can vividly remember a game of Spartanovka shortly after launch where I was playing as Soviet commander and absolutely destroyed the German team as they ran into artillery barrages like lemmings time and time again. Because he could not evidently figure out the difference between the public and team VOIP keys we all go to listen the sweet symphony of the OP's constant complaining that I was cheating.

And yes there was no trouble adapting to RO2's gameplay because it is significantly dumbed down from RO. The RO vets are unhappy because they were mislead about RO2's gameplay and features and they just don't like the game. Many of the RO vets supported TWI's other projects in the time between RO & RO2 to make sure the studio stayed afloat and that RO2 would see the light of day. I wonder how many of TWI's new customers would do that.

You said control freaks finish last but you're one of the biggest control freaks that I know. Heck in your first game of hos you were continuously screaming that every body was a cheater and spawnkiller. Screaming and shouting like a kid for an hour over the public voip. Even though you were killed around the capzone. This together with saying that you would get John Gibson to remove countdown as you talk daily with him. Or so you said.

even on your own forum and these you can find clear showcases of being a control freak yourself. Every body is entitled to their opinion but first get a realistic image of yourself before accusing others.

This is very true. Actually, OP, you've been known arround the community for your immature "I am best, everyone better cheats" attitude, to the point of people actually avoiding your server because of your childish rants.

It's quite hilarious for you to now say that vet's are angry about having to learn the game, when you're probably the person I've seen do most complaining about not being an uber-player. You're pretty much a representation of the "snobs or elitist asshats" you refer. However, feel free to keep your childish atitude, you're the one to whom it harms the most.

Hostile...

I really like the game too! Its a nice mix of tough but playable, RO is just too much for me, but this strikes a nice balance. By all means give the ones that like RO their "super, duper, hard, hardcore mode", as long as its seperate and clear, I'm sure that can keep everyone happy. :)

I'd like to be killed by a rifle more often, but really thats my only complaint as of now. Bring on the maps and mods, looking at other games with that support the possibilities are endless!

Hopefully the BF/cod players will be getting fed up by now and start returning to a game with a bit more longevity...

Oh for the love of god. What are those mechanics you refer to? EVERYTHING about RO2 tanks is more realistic than RO1 tanks. Even the aimbotting hullgunner.

Also better gameplay, if you don't count parking front toward enemy spawn and spawnraping. But that's not the fault of tanks.

If the op is the guy I think it is, then I can't honestly think his post is serious. I remember cyanide sending me a few vids of this pansy going ape**** because he would get killed time and time again by cyanide and his ptrd. This thread brightened my day however.. I got a good laugh out of this chum!

And a very close friend of Alans, who he speaks to everyday for a least 20 minutes as he kept telling us all one day in the beta, along with a lengthly verbose critique of what he felt was wrong with the community all delivered at ear shattering decibel levels over public voip. It was a very instructional session.

Tanks were much better in RO 1. Apart from the graphics ofcourse :)

How?

Armour is handled better in RO2, guns are handled better in RO2 and damage is handled better in RO2. RO2 tanks HAVE suspension and more playable spots (commander) and there are more holes you can peek out. Solotanking isn't as ridiculous seeing you have AI's to command instead of teleporting inside the tank.

Not to mention graphics, animation and SOUNDS.

Edit: unless of course you mean tanks were better cos you can't sit in an invicible T34-85 and 1-shot Tigers at 2000 meters. In the front armour.
