RO: 2 is missing one good thing (big open maps)

In RO: Ost I would get in a personal carrier and wait for a few comrades. We I drive us to the first objective, where the carrier protected us from MG placements.
I really want to see the personal carriers so we can have huge maps again where we may have to travel 2 minutes to get to the objective like in DH.

I dunno.
FallenHeroes was alot better in RO1. The tankcombat was alot more evened out, infantry had a decent chance to survive in capzone areas, etc.

OT:
I agree with TS, RO2 REALLY lacks big open maps that have put some effort into it.

You do thought about, that even Stalingrad had outskirts and also before that you had to advance to the city, so the battle wasn

It would be a good variation, but I must admit that I didn't particularly care for the huge maps in RO1 precisely because it could sometimes take 2 minutes to get to where the action was only to be blown up by a distant tank or shot by a sniper. I would occasionally play them, but they were not my favourite type of map. I wouldnt mind more maps the like of Spartanovka, semi open terrain, medium size (a bit bigger wouldn't be bad either). Or more urban maps like Zhitomir1941 and Odessa (but I suspect they will be among the first to be ported to RO2).

Generally I really look forward to the time the custom maps start appearing. It will really renew the game (and keep on renewing it, like it did in RO1).

Dear god OP.

You took the words out of my mouth and typed them in here. I could NOT agree any more then i already do.

We really need big infantry maps with some Bolt Actional warfare. Basicly decrease the slots for the Auto weapons and increase the bolt class.

You'd have realistic fights!

In RO1 we had Halftracks, Jeeps, Trucks and stuff to transport us. We dont even have that there, so basicly until they design those cars (If they do) we are gonna have to wait a LONG time.

I'm suprised they didnt have tractor works, considering it was originally made very accurately. The balance needed tweaking but the gameplay was still really fun.

+1 OP. I really hope TWI has plans for map expansion, vehicle addition (other than Tanks), etc, because IMO that's the main thing lacking right now.

With the SDK release, we will probably see much more of these. However, it would be nice to see them in the official unmodded game aswell. :)

Yep.I'd want a map like Berezina.It was awesome,you'd feel like you are a part of a much bigger battle.

Tripwire already said that they would add more vehicles, especially transport.

I don't know where i heard that, perhaps on Totalbiscuit's interview with the devs, but it's deffinetly said somewhere.

I am guessing that this will come when we get the planned free half track DLC.

We have started with the intense Stalingrad urban combat. We will soon get our larger fields that lend more to people not wanting to waste their lives.

If we get large fields I want to see at least three Half Tracks full of troops and one tank supporting in assaults. I do not want to see what we had in RO2 where you have 5 people and a dog on a server that you were lucky to run into anyone in. Basically turned it into a sniper fest.

I want big maps, I really do but the problem is that moving around is a total pain on a public server (like the current joy of BF3 when guys nick transport helis and go alone). I know this may sound crazy to some of the realism guys but would it not be great if Trucks (or half tracks) could work as a spawning point like in WW2:Online? That would pretty much fix any issues with big maps...

You are aware that big open areas are all around Stalingrad, broken up with just ravines, small villages and tiny woods? The lead up and surrounding operations take place in those big wide open areas.

And whats the problem ? , because this game is called Heroes of Stalingrad there can't be maps from other westfront locations ? .

We will see a lot , we only need to wait for the SDK and for sure some guys will create some nice custom maps with big open areas ... also , the problem is not only the lack of big open areas , the problem is a lack of really big maps with enough terrain to flank try to flank the other team .
