Just wow...it looks so much better than I thought it would. I love how they've compensated for the lack of semi-auto/auto weapons for the Japs. Levels look great! Looking forward to playing it.

I know right! Just like RO2 compensates the germans having great MG34s by them also having.. MKb42s.. oh..

I dont buy a cent for this game. Can you Guys remember, all Mods for Roost were for free, and they had a lot of new content. Selling it for a priece splits the small community more and more.

Red Orchestra and Killing Floor were both free mods once upon a time... I think if anything, Rising Storm should be free for a while so the community can determine if it'll be worth it.

I'm not saying it isn't worth whatever amount they're planning on.... but I think we can all agree that after the launch of RO2, it might be wise and/or logical to try and get more people on board first and then perhaps start thinking about charging afterwards. Perhaps even a free limited demo of the game for like a week or two, with some things locked and just a map or two.

It would also balance out a fair price based on community interest.

I think there will be a few people second guessing a purchase of a game they know nothing about besides screenshots and choreographed video clips.... especially since some people already did that with RO2 and feel a little ticked off about things not being what they expect.

I'm not a part of that group, but I can at least admit they exist.

I'm not 100% on the idea of paying for it either, but for my own reasons..... one is that I don't like paying for a mod, two was already explained in previous posts.

Like others with their own reasons, I would prefer to try it before I buy it.

So people buying RS will also get access to RO2? Yeah, I know he said "RO2 multiplayer", but I doubt many players actually bought RO2 for its singleplayer content...

Will RO2 owners actually get anything (like a discount maybe?) when buying RS? otherwise I don't really see any point to new players buying RO2 any longer if they get all multiplayer options when getting RS.

Just leaving that out there.

I won't be buying any more RO2 related stuff so I won't buy RS.

I am a big fan of mods but to be fair there usually is a difference in quality between mods and addons like rising storm. It starts at with the quality of sounds, models and skins and it definitely goes further with the quality of the maps and not only visual but also gameplay wise. Take DH as a example it has a lot of great maps but I very often have the feeling a lot of maps lack balance and simple polishing when it comes to gameplay.

For me, it was the weapon handling and the models that urked me the most. Some were just plain wrong in proportion, and others you could hardly aim with. The quality of the models, textures and map layouts being mostly basic.... I can understand why people would love the game and have a good time, don't get me wrong.... but I never got into it.

And I certainly wouldn't pay money for it.

Lots of content, but the quality didn't even measure up to what was in RO2 regarding textures, models and environments..... it lost that immersion for me, especially since I handled a Sten MKII, Bren Gun and Lee Enfield before and everything in the game was just bass ackwards in feel, look and operation.

I am not paying for another ro2, mod or not. All I have been hearing is that it would be a free mod. Now people are saying it is going to cost $$$. Nobody knows what is going on.

It was never stated as either. It was stated that it could potentially be a free mod. However, if it turned out to be well made, it could be taken in and polished up by RO devs to be sold for a price.

I will certainly be willing to pay for this, and it's not just because my face is in it.

think I'll wait and see what it's actually like first, as someone said in another thread video can be made to show things off thats not really how it will play in normal multiplayer

and who ever Suggested a free to play period is probaly right if they want to charge

I'm not buying another TWI product sight unseen ever again and i think many feel the same way - if they want my money they need to convince me it's not another pig and a poke

See, I'm still confused on this.

What I got from the video is that people that don't own Red Orchestra 2, will get its MP by buying Rising Storm.

But do people that already own Red Orchestra 2 also have to pay for it? And if so, about how much?

I am willing to pay and all, but to be frank, is hardly an entirely new game.

It is an expansion pack, and that suggests that yes, it will be paid for everyone.

Man pulls into the drive in at Micky D;s :
" I want a double cheeseburger , but I want it for free even though it took you time to make it , materials and stuff. I should get it for free because I already bought a Big Mac."

Make sense to you?

I have no problem shelling out a few clams for WORK that is done by someone else that I cannot do if I get benefit or enjoyment out of the product. Pretty simple concept eh? I don't feel entitled to a mod or another whole game for free.

Mod looks good . I'll buy it , if it isn't free.

From the limited footage shown so far it looks pretty good. Some nice polished features in there.

From the amount of work that looks like has went into it, it looks more than your usual "mod". This work deserves some sort of recompense.

For the time I will spend on it, whatever they charge, will be less than I spend on cheese. I have put it to the vote for our senior members as to whether they are open to the idea of running it. Although no one knows what format that would take yet.

I just hope they don't shape the game in any way to the whims of all the keyboard warriors. What we don't need is more walls of text explaining why people don't play the game. Instead of just enjoying it.

Its not so much that you may be paying for something that others have worked hard for.

- By providing it for free (to everyone), you could get people who haven't bought ROHOS, but would be interested in buying it for RS. Especially those Americans who only want to play as Americans. How many would pay for the game for a free expansion if they don't have ROHOS? I don't really know but the possibility is there and TWI could use that money to 'pay' for RS. Might also bring back some players currently not playing.

Best bet in my opinion is to do it for Free and hope the increase in sales because of it (some Steam promotion/sale). That way every player who owns ROHOS can play it resulting in the largest number of players which can be a selling point for the game itself. - OR - a low price for the RS expansion. A certain number of players will definitely pay for it, but others won't if its not free, especially if they aren't that happy with ROHOS now.

Point is, free isn't necessarily a non-money maker :p

It needs a radio operator character that needs to interact with the SL/TL for arty. Would add a whole new dimension I think.

A benefit of it being a game vs a mod is that it will (hopelfully) be reviewed by gaming sites. If it scores high, you have a big coverage. On the other hand, Day Z.

Then again, the Japanese having the Bren Gun may be enough to sway me into the game.... obviously if I do get the game, I'll probably be playing 99% Japanese just for the difference in weapons.

That was a type 99 light machine gun it looks very much like a Bren gun.The type 99 fired the 7.7mm round and oddly enough it had a bayonet attachment (silly Japanese). At least it better be a type 99 having a Bren wouldn't be historically accurate at all for the Japanese.

http://world.guns.ru/machine/jap/type-96-99-e.html

Most of the Japanese weapons was dated as they believed it was the soldiers fighting spirit that carried the day instead of the weapons. With that said the type 99 was a great LMG and was one of the few modern(for the time) weapon designs in their arsenal. In fact that was one of the biggest problems for the Japs after the war started they pretty much designed no new weapons.

My only worry will be weapon balance as the Marines had a huge edge when it come to fire power over the japs in the pacific. This could/may be countered by well defended positions. As the japs should mainly be on the defensive besides a possible counter attack scenario.

I will definitely give the game a try just like the Eastern front the pacific is often overlooked in games. In favor of Normandy which has been overdone IMO when it comes to ww2 shooters.Besides a mass Banzai charge as the Japs would be just too much fun :D

It does if the last one you ate gave you food poisoning.

If that's the way you feel, I hope you're also shelling out money to the guys in this community who made those community maps you all enjoy.

It's only fair. ;)

Well you learn something every day.

I only ever saw that MG from a distance or in movies.... from a distance. To me it looked like a Bren gun... and it did confuse me wondering why they'd have so many Ally MG's.

Either way, I would be interested in giving their weapons a go.... tried a bit in that Call of Duty that took place in the Pacific, but again.... call of duty physics....

And I'm already running around RO2 with my bayonet like a mad man, so...
