The hero unlock I think should be the Lee- Enfield.

Here's how it would work realistically and historically.

German troops, fighting on the Western Front took the 10 round Lee- Enfield over their 5 round K98's from American, Canadian and British troops. But due to operation Barbarossa many Germans were shipped to the East. However, the hero riflemen have lived long enough to see both fronts of the war and have these scavenged weapons from the west in their hands.
Russian troops,
Germany is fighting hard to defeat the Soviets. The British Empire gives munitions, tanks and weapons to the Soviet Union to help them against their fight with Germany. Many Lee- Enfields are given to the Soviet Union.

What do you think? Just an idea.
ALSO REMEMBER
Hero riflemen are a rare breed. There are usually none on a server, and if any just one. This would balance it out greatly.

Well I'm pretty sure there were only 100 MKBs in Stalingrad ;) but I've seen a lot more than that.

Soldiers were allowed to buy their own arms and use them so why not ones they scavenged from the enemy?

Yeah I love this idea

Yeah I love this idea

Yes, show us a historical precedent to prove that this isn't just a hypothetical scenario and I will support it 100%. Maybe it is better suited to modding however. Is it within the scope of a server to have a custom weapon like this modded in?

Yeah me too, but since TWI implemented it and it's not a community suggestion.. :p

really? well, didn't know that. if that is true it makes your suggestion more realistic. but if you raise the point of only 100 MKBs being deployed in stalingrad, the same could go with the enfields.

"fighting on the Western Front took the 10 round Lee- Enfield over their 5 round K98's from American, Canadian and British troops"

not in 1942-43 they didnt, there was no "western front", and the desert war was going back an forth, an no troops were pulled back from the afrika corp and sent to stalingrad, so no there would be no enfields at all at the eastern front.

and anything picked up by the germans after dunkirk unless it could be used immediatly or put in storage was scraped for resources. so no enfields as they would have no ammo supply apart from what the indiviual soldier picked up at the time, and ive heard of some allied lend lease gear supplied but never enfields and the other firearms that were, the ruskies didnt liketo use them.

also the germans resupplied for barbarossa, so they wouldnt take anywar trophies with them. only things that high command ignored was the use of captured russian weapons picked up during battle, before mid 43, when things went bad for jerry on the eastern front, nor do imagin that any german soldat would choose to use another bolt action over his own, unless hed lost his.

I don't think that using the excuse that we already have a lot of silly improbable loadouts to add another is a good idea. Rather remove the existing silly improbable weapons instead.

The only bolt action rifle unlock that would make any sense to me is the M38 carbine for the Russians.

Two words:

Logistical nightmare.

What are the Germans going to do? Ship captured .303 ammunition all the way to Russia to equip a few select soldiers?

As for the Russians, they weren't even willing to use the Thompson SMGs we shipped them for anything other than rear-area security because the .45 caliber ACP was too much of a logistics challenge. Supplying select riflemen with unique 7.9 x 56.4mm ammunition, stripper clips, and cleaning kits, especially in Stalingrad where ammunition usage rates were monstrously high and resupply either nonexistent or extremely uncertain, would be equivalent to sending them to a penal battalion--which would require far less effort and cost for potentially greater benefit.

All of this, of course, naturally leads to the question of how the Germans are getting ammunition for the Mkb in the first place...

i've never heard of the brits supplying the russians with enfields. you'll need to find some proof if you want this thread to grow wings.

I'm pretty sure due to the design, the Mosin was easier and cheaper to produce than the more precisely machined Enfield.

That meant they could make more quickly.

So they probably just kept making more and more Mosins. Which they put back into production because they couldn't make enough SVTs to supply their troops.
