Instead of blocking and aiming at once, use [alt_fire] to block like other melee weapons, use [primary_fire] while holding down [alt_fire] to do a shield bash similar to existing one but faster and lighter or [secondary_fire] for a slower and heavier slam.
I believe this method would make sense and be worthwhile on the gunned shield versus the maced counterpart even though it's a bit clunkier, but that's because the latter shares the same method of use across both hands whereas the former has different sets of control, which I hope is a sensible enough reason for it to be that way.
*Edit: or use [alt_fire] + [secondary_fire] to switch the gun's firing mode if devs thought the shield only needs 1 attack mode.
