Thought it deserved it's own thread :p

So yeah chances it's going to be announced at E3 are 95%+, insiders already know about it. Some facts which are already known:

  • You still play as B.J. Blazkowicz
  • You still fight Nazis and their occultic experiments
  • this time around you have magical skills too
  • this time around you'll be playing in a big open world(in a city) with areas with you will unlock as you progress through the game
  • Nazis are getting their powers from an alternate reality called 'The Shroud'
  • Sometimes you'll fight together with rebels
So what do you think? Are you looking forward to the game or did you never care about RTCW?

I loved RtCW. I hated the zombies on my first play through, because I didn't expect them and they ruined the mood for me. Back in the days when a cheesy nazi shooter like RtCW still created a ww2 mood for me.
On my second way through it I already knew what to expect and I came to realize that the nazi hunting parts of the game were just as nonsensical as the zombie shootings and the mutant cleansings and I enjoyed it a lot more.
Clean, simple, but well made, honest B-movie carnage. Very good game.

I'm not sure I like the changes. Magical powers, open city, companions,... That's so generic. Like, every other game has it, we gotta have it too. None of these would make the game bad by default, but they don't sound promising to me at all. I'll wait for more info.

They make it sound a bit like "Wolfenstein meets GTA", i'm not quite sure what to make of that though.. i could both see that beeing awesome or fail misserably, i just don't know what to think at this point.

Anyway, RTCW was actually a good game, aslong as you went into it with the understanding that you where playing a comic book style alternate reallity version of WW2, and not WW2 as brought to you by your 5'th grade history books, it had something very Hellboy'ish over it, and it was fun.

Kinda sounds like that third-person Saboteur game in development by Pandemic, with an open world city that you must liberate from Nazi occupation. I'm not too sure if I'm keen on this idea, though. I'd much rather have it be a linear game with good level design and detail like the first RTCW.

It's quite funny. Few years ago(2-3) everybody was like 'oh no all games are so linear' - now where there are very many open-world games it turned around again :D But yeah I like linear games too, but we'll see how it turns out anyways.

I loved Wolf3d, played RtCW not to long ago, but it aged too much for me to be of any interest.

RTCW had also variety of challenge involved, and some of those stealth missions were actually quite good and reguired bit more than just rushing in guns blazing.

And the RTCW B-movie class epicness is just... buffet of epicness! :D

RTCW2 _must_ to be good.

**** linearity. I'm all for open environments and multiple ways of accomplishing a single task. Although, some games don't need that to be fun, ie Wolf, but more serious games usually benefit greatly from it.

I don't know about RTCW, but for multiplayer, RTCW Enemy Territory is an absolute classic. Even though gameplaywise its average, it was a landmark (for me at least) in class based multiplayer.

What "new" will it have in comparison to other FPS games these days? Seriously, I can count on the fingers of one hand the number of good modern FPS games.
