So I bought RO2 today, but when I install it, it only says it will be installing 2451mb. When the install finishes, there is another 6gb to download! I live in Australia, with terrible internet speed and a monthly usage so downloading this is just not going to happen.
I've tried Inserting the disk when Steam was open, I've tried inserting the disk when steam was closed, I've tried steams suggestion to run a command specifying the drive to install from.
Nothing Works
I paid $50 for this game so that I could play it with out downloading the entire thing.
So Unless Tripwire has put out 6gb of patches since release which I doubt, Steam is broken for installing this game
Has anyone found a fix for this issue?
Thanks in advance

I am running into the same problem. My disc only dled 5gb, and now the rest is being dled from Steam. I never really appreciated being forced to use Steam before, and this is usually the reason why. Why cant the entire game (minus patches/updates) be taken from the disc that was purchased? I don't have the fastest connection and I already have to share it with people  I would appreciate any input.

Yeah its really annoying me.
And another thing, when I open up the disk using windows explorer, the data files add up to well over 6GB, so its only taking 2.4gb off the disk when there is more available! I literally cannot play the game at all until I wait for my off peak to start, which is a pain in the ***

I have the same problem too i already posted about. I live in Australia also and i do have the fastest net you can get so i got the full download in.
My thoughts were since it has to connect to steam, that the java script was overloading...Then i thought punkbuster, but that was all fine.
So yet AGAIN obviously, EB games or who ever imports games for Australia has FAILED.
In my opinion the disk is corrupt, i think i might take it back to the store then order the game online, or just wait another month till the shop realises "herp derp we have corrupt disks"

I'm really annoyed by this. I waited a week for a decent retail delivery, been anticipating this game since it was announced, and now this? I just can't download 6GB, as it would cost me 60 dollars in internet usage. What the hell, Tripwire?

I don't think It's Tripwires fault, Its probably a problem with steam or the actual disk itself.
Point is, I wanna play but I can't D:

What you guys are downloading is probably the patched files.

You don't magically get the game fully patched in retail. :)

Haven't heard of any progress on this issue and got the feeling if you've got a retail disc your just going to have to go through with the DL.

Sadly a return to EB for more :'( But fortunately there's about a million great games about to release too :)

I suspect the game wasnt finalised when it went to print so they simply put the steam setup on and rather than have you just d/l the latest updates left you downloading the entire game..

Its not just the patches that your downloading.. You can work it out by exploring the DVD

Well its annoying that I paid for a disk with half of a game on it, but oh well... Guess its time to waste my precious bandwidth

As has been said.. they were working right up to the release date, and with so many files being changed after the disks were manufactured you have no choice but to patch the game to its most recent version.

There is simply no way to avoid this.

It really sucks to have to have download limits.. i feel for you. These should be a thing of the past.

If it makes you feel any better, i ended up downloading over 12GB of data for this game on release day from Steam on a 200Kb/sec line :(

Thats Australia for you, no R18 until very recently, terrible speeds, bandwidth, ridiculous prices for games and a Ranga that doesnt know how to run a country.

At least you've got the weather!

In the UK we need unlimited bandwidth so we don't have to go outside!

Yeah, guys, there have been some major week 1 patches.

I don't know about 6 gb, as I've been getting them piecemeal, but retail disks for PC games usually only contain the largest of the assets. I know that TWI has patched several of the maps along with some other big assets, and these all require new downloads.

It's an unfortunate situation, but there's not much you can do about it. You'd have to get the patches anyway to play online, it's not Steam's fault.
