If they don't get a final build out to the beta testers, hopefully they have enough internal testers to validate the code correctly. I have my doubts though as I'm surprised some of the big issues with the browser got through the initial testing (sorting, and then double clicking on a server doesn't take you to the right server as an example).

I have the same gut feeling that I have when a sponsor is pushing to get code into production that you know still has bugs in it, but they're willing to take the risk in order to make the deadline. Not a good feeling and it usually doesn't work out that well.

The way I see it, if MW3 or BF3 released in the state that RO2 is in right now, everyone would be up in arms and probably rightly so. RO2 is a smaller developer and this is a less mainstream title (niche dare I say it). The title also costs quite a bit less than either of the previously mentioned franchises and I dare say we will get a lot more free content over time that the others will have to pay for.

With all that in mind, I am prepared to give TWI the benefit of the doubt. I have paid my money already so it doesn't really make a difference to me if we carry on with the beta and updates that hopefully improve things, or if they release the full build tomorrow and it has bug in.

I'll just wait for those to be patched and carry on having fun in the mean time.

It must make good business sense to release now however. Although RO2 isn't pitched at the BF3 and MW3 crowd, you sure as hell don't want to release in the same month(s) as they are. That would be like farting in a hurricane, no one's gonna hear you.

This is true. How many employees did TWI have again?

The great thing about TWI is we know they are a dedicated team that work until the issues are fixed. Some games that were bugged at launch put themselves in an early grave (look at warhammer) because they drastically cut their programmers and developers after launch, at the time when they needed the support the most. EA was just looking at subscriptions and how much they would bank on the game, and the equation kept changing. We know that it is entirely a different dynamic at TWI, and they don't operate that way.

Now, if a game is badly bugged at launch you risk people asking for refunds right off the bat, of course, but I have faith that the game will be well-playable by tomorrow and after that is just fine-tuning.

15 slave coders, 5 artists, 2 sound experts, 1 president, 1 vice-president, 1 community manager, 3 forum mods, a 24/7 dedicated pizza delivery guy, 2 dogs, 1 parrot, a turtle, 2 zombies, 3 KF specimens, a priest, a chained girl in the basement and a box of cookies.

Looks like a lotta people to me

Im sure 1 of them could of atleast given me some confidence that there was even a recognition of my concerns and that there was even the tiniest chance that there would be changes to a feature (not a bug) later down the line. As we are leading up to the final deadline, some communication would have been nice.

But no. Im left in the dark and waiting on a refund request.

You haven't even played the official, released version of the game and already you are "waiting on a refund request?"

Seems pretty impatient to me. Just because they haven't stopped everything to communicate with you doesn't mean your issue won't be addressed, necessarily. If they had to stop an write a post about it to EVERYONE who reports an issue, when would they be able to fix any of them????

If this is the case, I'm seeing a real shortage in the testing department. Not surprised as it's a developer centric group, but a lot of these issues would have been identified with a good test lead.

I think by now, however, the number of zombies has risen to around 10, and the number of slave coders has dropped by a relative number.

Oh, and I think it will be a bad idea to give the crackers a near finished product to mess with it.

BTW, the original post was not a plea for something new or to fix something that's really broken on my end because the games working pretty well on my computer, but a genuine made in good faith request to help TWI make this the best game possible before the deadline tomorrow.

After the public release, the game magazines will not be writing up previews, but reviews (obvious, I know), and they won't be as gentle about bugs at that point. The difference between an 85 and a 90 rating is one bad bug.

As a test lead for many years, and a developer and project manager for many others, I know exactly how the process goes. I also know that last minute fixes tend to break more things than they fix if not designed and implemented correctly. The beta exists for a reason, so to say that they don't want to get it into our hands is pretty stupid. They have the beta for a reason.

Are you a real person or that Chatbot? Surely anyone with a grasp on, well, anything would know that Steam doesn't charge for each build of a beta that is released.

like I said, if they want to help people to decide they need to communicate. Im not going to gamble on a whim. if they cant respond to me with any info when there is incentive for them to convince me to go with it, then i cant see them doing it later when there is no incentive.

just leaving me in the dark with no info is making my mind up for me as we get closer and closer to the deadline.

anyway, cya guys. Im not going to gamble on them changing a game feature later on, that doesnt happen much.

Why would I know that? I've never sold any software through Steam. As a service company, I would assume that Steam would charge the software provider (TWI) for services. Most service companies charge for each transaction, rather than lumping all services into one payment. I know they don't charge the end user (me) for each build I get, but that wasn't my original statement either.

Well since my issue is with team balance, I could have played many many FPS games over the years that use this (which I have), so it could be a big poll.

But its cute how you only think back as far as CoD or BF. Auto team balance is used all over buddy. Get over yourself.

Oh so your saying I should edit my post like you and in clued arma, wolfenstien, TF2. Wait I won't edit my post to make it look like I thought of every thing at once instead I'll take your comment like a man and just post this. Also if you want me to keep going I'll continue with my naming off games. So don't think I only go back as far as CoD and BF. The reason I said what I said is because you sound like a man stream whiner. But with your last post :IS2: has decided your just a main stream moron. TY and have a nice day.
