Remove team killing penatly for simply changing classes.

Take away the penalty, but you should still die when you switch. I'm sure they don't want 5 to 6 roles tied up at any one time while people select a role and reserve it, then play for another 3 minutes before they actually spawn as it.

I agree.

It also makes it hard for admins to work out whose a team killer and who is just changing classes alot whilst alive.

Let the class change take effect after you die normally without any penalty.

better question is why is there no option to let the player chose if he wants to suicide or not after picking a class.

Nothing wrong with the old way of choosing a class, then typing "suicide" in console.

Yes definitely. Especially when for some reason there is often a delay on some people spawning in the first wave. RO2 has the same system as RO1 in that you can choose the same last slot as someone else and the game doesn't pickup on it.

The only difference now is you can suicide when sitting on the role screen trying to figure out whether it has happened or not.

The strangest thing is I suffer most from not being able to pick the role I want after a battlefield commission. I am running the game on a decent rig with an SSD so I am always in first. It makes me feel like the commission is working against me.

You didn't play RO1. If you change class while you're alive, it will attempt to spawn you in that class when you die. If someone spawns first and takes it, you're SOL. Nothing is "reserved."

For every kill lost through class switching, I bet 5 more are gained from firing random shots toward their spawn :p.

I don't personally like the -2 penalty. I think, given how easy it is to accidentally suicide, they would be better off implementing some kind of time based penalty instead. For me, queuing up a role isn't a big deal; I just want to stop re-spawning in the middle of a role change.

2. changes mind
3. opens role menu again

*spawns* (totally unaware)

4. selects class

*SUICIDE -2*

Based on how annoyed people are right now at the "Role Taken Message", when it shows up for various reasons, and how badly the game is keeping track of roles when it applies to stuff like tanks......I don't have an abundance of faith that simply doing what RO1 did will work. Trying to switch between infantry roles and tank roles has resulted in me commanding a tank as an infantry role before...not as a tank role.

I hate changing role, sometime I am dead while changing but the commander force respawn and I am unaware he did so I change my class and im dead
