Simple suggestion inspired by Project Reality. Squad Leaders can drop one rally point for their squad to spawn on.

  • Its appearance is of a radio (for example)
  • Its functionality is similar to that of a territory point. If ever there are enemies within it's proximity, it will cease to function.
  • If there are only enemies near by, it will permanently be removed.
  • The spawning area is smaller than the control area.
  • Placing a Rally Point has a cooldown timer, and doing so will erase any previously placed rally points. They cannot be placed while a previous point is contested.
  • Enemy destruction of a rally point will begin the cooldown timer.

I argue for the removal of SL spawns in favour of this primarily because it would be beneficial for the SL himself. He would be more inclined to play an more active role in combat when he knows his squad will have a secure point to fall back on.

I also feel this will be of even greater benefit on the larger maps where we may see squad vs squad stand offs between two hard points.

Throw down a small colored smoke grenade, signaling to all (friends & foes) a rally spawn location.

This is a good idea. And yes, coloured smoke grenades would do this job perfectly. The smoke would continue for as long as the spawn point is active.

Green smoke for one team, Red for the other.

IMO keep it like RO1. Defined spawn positions. Helps keep the flow of battle more consistent.

I like this suggestion. It can feel like a smoke bot/mobile spawn point as a SL. If you die your team loses a large advantage, so its best to use your smokes then and get in a safe position near enemy lines. Then just stay alive as long as possible by playing ultra passively

Mobile spawn points was back in BF2142.
WHY SL SHOULD ALWAYS BE BOTHERED BY NECESSITY TO STAY ALIVE?
Why he can't deploy a Mobile Spawn and go fighting?

Because he plays a role that is a bit more as a riflemen etc. It is the job of the role trying to work together with his squadmated. If the player is not willing to do that its okay but he should play a different class.

I dont really like the idea of spawn points you can deploy. It would lead to too much abuse.

Bumping for recent difficulty using the squad leader spawn due to squad leader actually wanting to play a role in combat rather than hiding in a closet.

What would fix this (for me at least) is knowing where my squad leader is exactly. Right now, it is such a crap shoot that few people are willing to risk spawning disoriented in the middle of battle. I should be able to see the squad leader marked CLEARLY on the mini-map in the spawn screen.

Also, I should spawn FACING the nearest cap point (regardless of whether I spawn on squad leader or a spawn point).
