So I know that there will be remedial servers for tkers/griefers etc. What I am wondering is how that will affect joining. Will it prevent such players from joining matches entirely except those they are allowed to join, or will it only affect matchmaking (I'm working off of the assumption that there will be a join now button type matchmaking as well as the server browser). Also, who will actually host such remedial servers, I take it partners like gameservers.com.

remedial servers should be hosted by the griefers and if they don't want to host, tough luck. maybe they should have learned to play nice.

I bet some maniacal evil mastermind of a server administrator could satisfy his urge to induce pain by hosting some twisted game mode on his server for dishonorable players. He could add sadistic modifications to the core game such as tanks falling from the sky and randomly squashing soldiers, a 50% weapon jam probability, constant artillery barrages, or all players on one team, bayonets only, against an MG wielding bot, etc.

Yeah, people will sure stick around for that.

Remedial Servers? When was this announced? I guess kicking/banning isn't good enough anymore.

I'd prefer Remedial servers have team killers sit through a AA style training class on why trolling and team killing is unacceptable in RO. It would be like going to traffic school after too many tickets. :p The instructor ingame would be an avatar of Ramm.

what they need is a Boot Camp server, with a mean a&% drill instructor screaming at them about golf balls & garden hoses & what-not.

remember that training map? there used to be a really cool map on this one server that was nothing but training. it had a cool shooting range with moving targets, all kinds of obstacles. it had nade targets and 'faust targets...it was pretty cool. it'd be cool if these a^*-hats had to go through a server like that, and get to a certain proficiency on certain things.

but then again the reality is this: griefers and chronic team-killers are just that...and unlikely to change. there won't be any substitute for good admin presence and a solid handle on how to ban somebody.

Reminds me of an Ostfront server with absolutely no rules I played on once. TKs became an interesting part of the gore gameplay - you had to memorize the names and positions of the TKers and kill them first, all while taking care to sprint away from the satchel charges in spawn. I imagine this is what it would be like playing on a remedial server. Just consider the teamkillers enemy soldiers who are wearing your uniform to trick you. :p I'm pretty sure that happened occasionally in WWII.

The question still remains, exactly WHO is going to host the remedial servers?
Not me anyway, i enjoy playing too much to wetnurse a server full of griefers and tkr's, kicking and banning is all we need.

I bet there will be enough non-admined servers out there for it to benefit from such a system. There has always been popular un-admined servers and there will be for RO2 too. Kicking and banning might fulfill a need, but that does not mean things cannot be even better.

First off, remedial severs should punish griefers and tkers in such a way were it isn't just endless murder. If you loose rank and get kicked from too many games certain servers will become locked and unplayable. The only servers would be unranked servers.

Won't let you level up until a certain amount of time. Teaching you not cheat. I doubt people will even play on these "remedial" unranked servers regularly, so not many people will be pleased with being in a map with 15 other griefers just doing stupid ****.

I like the idea of making it harder for tkers and such to level up, be it losing honor or whatever. I don't like the remedial server thing though. What if there are problems with server population, etc. Are these people who screwed up a little bit going to have to sit on their hands and just wait it out? It's like a ban from all public ranked servers.. I just find the whole idea odd.

I don't want unranked servers to be some kind of griefers retreat :(

You should be able to set your servers tolerance level for how low honor a player can have. Buy maybe below a certain honor level you simply can't level up.
