Somehow this thought hit me a few minutes ago and now it keeps bugging me.

If you change your magazine before it is empty one of the bullets remains in the chamber, which means that after the mag change you should have the amount of bullets in the magazine + 1 ready to be fired.

I haven't payed attention to this in the first game and I haven't seen this mentioned in any of the previews...

So...is there going to be a feature that lets you keep the bullet in the chamber or is it like all the other shooters where the player obviously removes 1 bullet from the magazine before inserting it into the weapon? xD

This is how it is in RO, I would be surprised if it is changed in RO2.

As it is in RO, technically when you reload your sniper rifle, you should have 1 less bullet because opening the bolt would expel an unfired cartridge. So if you had 3 rounds in your rifle, and you wanted to top it off, you would actually have to insert 3 rounds into it.

I only know of one game that ever took this into account and that is The Trenches mod for Half Life 1.

I don't see why not. It's part of how the game tracks how many rounds are in each mag.

Really makes the weapon feel like a real firearm too :X

Resistance and Liberation Sourcemod lets you use the reload button to work the bolt and expel a cartridge. Although obviously that makes it so that you can't reload single cartridges or reload a stripper clip until the internal mag is emptied.

I just did a few tests and they really put that into RO...I hope they keep it in HoS though...even if it is a rather irrelevant small detail.

which you would then pick right back up and not loose the round, but yes you would then have to place 3 rounds into the gun to make five. Unless they were to add an animation of the bolt being opened slower, and pushing the round back down into the magazine before it hits the ejector screw.

but if you reload the weapon before ejecting the empty shell from the last shot you wouldn't need to refill that ^^

Only in weapons fireing from a closed bolt. :)

But +1 for that.

Hate to necropost, but I just thought of this as well.

Open bolt weapons have an empty chamber until the bolt is dropped when you squeeze the trigger, so they should NOT get the +1 round on a partial reload.

The MP40, PPD 40, PPSh 41, PPS 43, and earlier MKb 42(w) models are all open bolt. The only weapons that get the +1 bonus are the pistols and the semi auto rifles.
