I dont understand how people can be so ignorant to not understand that if their 4 core system has 25% usage then that means one core is maxed out.

Tripwire just needs to move some of that processing to the other cores

You can see on my screenshot that my cores are respectively at 42%, 34%, 42% and 49%.
I don't understnad how you can be so ignorant to not understand that if a core usage exceed 25% it is that the usage scale is not out of 25% but out of 100%

I don;t understand that you base such insults on unfounded assumptions.

I see a good distribution over all my cores. My cpu is not axed out, yet I don;t see a single FPS gained by Crossfire.

Awesome! Keep up the great work! Loving the game and have seen in the past how long you all keep supporting you games!

I'm getting 100% CPU use using task manager. When I had the alt-tab bug I had noticed it stuck on 25% using task manager so it was my assumption it was running single-core. However, alt-tabbing back into the game it clearly goes back to 100% when the game is rendering / having sound / etc so actually they do have that correct.

that doesnt mean its best optimized though, just that they aren't confined to a single core.

Sorry RAMM, but to make an excuse like
"RO isnt like any other game, those are meant for consoles, its pushes systems to the limit like the old days"

just doesnt fly mate, theres NO REASON on earth why I can turn all my gfx options down/off and have the game looking like something from the 90s and be getting 30fps, yet turning everything to ultra getting 20 fps, its horrific coding and piss poor optimisation.

Just... wow :) You're assuming that people are looking at the summary figure, rather than graphs of each core right? Correct me if I'm wrong, but does 5 + 5 + 5 + 10 not equal 25? :) lol, you didn't really think that post through did you?

but game X is most likely a console port and designed to run on a much lower spec machine than RO2
We compare RO2 to modern games. We aren't saying "tetris runs with 100 FPS, but RO2 is only 10 FPS!". Many games with better graphics run better than RO2. I play with horrible low-to-med settings, graphics are like in RO1 but without blur or AA. THAT'S WRONG.

Have you even read what I said ?
I AM NOT CPU LIMITED (or the new thing is being CPU limited when the CPU usage reaches 50% ?)
A friend of mine who has a 4870 and a E8400 runs the game with a steady 50fps on high.
Another friend of mine have the same kind of problems I have with a 2500K@4.2ghz and a GTX570, so please, don't try to make me believe a E8400 is more powerful than a 2500K.

Untill now I have been very patient as I was thinking that such an obvious problem (CPU and GPU not working at half of their capabilities) was only a temporary problem that was ought to be resolved very soon, but what Ramm just said suggests they won't be able to cope with this problem before a long time.

You probably are CPU limited. Your multiple core CPU doesn't help AT ALL if the game code can't be executed concurrently. And draw calls might just fall into that category. My point is that unless you know something about programming you don't understand why you're CPU bound :p

Regarding performance:
My computer is nearly identical to requirement specs:
Processor:
Q8300@2.8 Ghz
Ram:
4 Gb
Graphic card:
Ati 5750
Operating system:
Windows 7 640bit

I did not bought game yet, because I am worried with this performance issue.

So I have one hard question: Will Red Orchestra run reasonable smoothly (even at minimum detail level) on my desktop?

Yeah, but the point is plenty of people have claimed that BFBC2 not only looks better but runs better. The runs better part makes sense considering the lack of detail, while looks better is open to opinion.

He's not interested in facts, just his assumptions based on faulty information, hence his addition to my ignore list earlier ;)

It's still silly that my
i5 2500k

Is enough for full 100% usage on both my 6970s on every other single game I have played. But that in RO2 it's supposedly so 'limited' that a second card doesn't even add one single frame per second.

They can tell me how demanding RO2 is a thousand times, but it just does seem a little bit odd that you need CPU's that haven't even been invented yet to be able to make use of the second card in RO2.

I believe so, yeah. Actually I would be extremely surprised if you couldn't run it on low, doubt you'll be able to play on high-ultra unless you're still on 800x600 though.

So, let's lay this out a little bit. The game is CPU bound on almost all systems. The reason that people are not seeing any 1 core at 100% is because the CPU is thrashing itself trying to improve performance, but in this case it doesn't have the ability to do so. There are 2 main threads in the Unreal Engine, a Game Thread and a Rendering Thread. Right now, the Rendering Thread is generally the one maxing out on machines and it's getting tossed amongst the 3 cores that the Game Thread is not running on.

If you set ROGame.exe to have a 2 core processor affinity, you will probably see 1 core maxed out and the other core at 40-60%.
