I generally think I get decent enough fps out of the my hardware for the higher settings I am trying to run. Better than I expected actually and I was already happy and had no major problems with performance.

I have an older Q6600 and 2 8800GT's in SLI and I can see the usage on the cpu cores is higher than my two cards are running. Even if I'm interpreting my SLI indicators in game I can tell the game is cpu bound. Most of this I knew already with my setup from looking at other games in the past.

But as in the past, the Devs have shown they are committed to their games and are going to be hard at work on it. A big hearty thanks!

So a 2500K @ 4.2 is limited to the point I have NO gains whatsoever from a crossfire setup?

...and one of the reasons why you're CPU limited is because there are thousands of discrete objects rendered in a single frame. Each one of those objects requires the CPU to crunch some data and send that to GPU for rendering. So yea, it's partly a map optimization issue too.

Have you even read what I said ?
I AM NOT CPU LIMITED (or the new thing is being CPU limited when the CPU usage reaches 50% ?)
A friend of mine who has a 4870 and a E8400 runs the game with a steady 50fps on high.
Another friend of mine have the same kind of problems I have with a 2500K@4.2ghz and a GTX570, so please, don't try to make me believe a E8400 is more powerful than a 2500K.

Untill now I have been very patient as I was thinking that such an obvious problem (CPU and GPU not working at half of their capabilities) was only a temporary problem that was ought to be resolved very soon, but what Ramm just said suggests they won't be able to cope with this problem before a long time.

Real quick i want to give my performance assessment (i will upload my logs when i get home)

I have a Intel core i7 970, hexa core, 12 threads, 3.20 (stock)
2x Radeon HD 6950s in crossfire (stock)
3x4GB 2000Hz 9-7-9-27 @ 1600 7-5-7-24 (here http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B004D2B6YA)
eVga X58 FTW3

no overclocking, just basic tuning to get everything running 100% stable (mainly ram)

I get about 25 fps with everything maxed, PostProcessing maxed, frame smoothing off, vsync off. With AA off (which is what i usually do in games anyways) i get about 35 fps max, with empty map being around ~28, full server being < 25, not playable imho.
based on my hardware im pretty sure it should be running at least a bit faster, not to mention that from monitoring the game, it appears to still not be utilizing my video hardware or many cpu cores at once.

For the record, these stats are just for benchmarking, when i actually play i play on high, with some settings on med, AA off, and PP on normal, i get about 65 fps, however, occasionally i will drop to <1 fps(might just be that i need new cooling )

Are Nvidia cards using Hardware Physics + nvidia driver multi thread ability really well? Is that why there are so many ATI complaints because they cannot offload the physics process to the GPU?

Also... did everyone install all the pre-install applications correctly? I imagine that can impact performance quite a bit.

Thanks for the update. I appreciate your candid news posts.

For those running Crossfire, @CatalystCreator had this to say:

'Red Orchestra 2 - CF scaling - we're working on improving performance, and hope to have a CAP update next week.'

CompatLevelCPU=5
CompatLevelGPU=4

This is from the RoEngine.ini and by setting my CPU compatlevel to 4 I was able to get noticeably more usage out of my GPU, +20% or so. On Spartanovka my minimum framerate went from 50-80, and GPU usage peaks at 75%! This isn't so much a fix as a workaround, but give it a try, and I hope it helps some people.

What exactly does this do? :D

you must rewrite the system requirements

This is a good idea. Especially with the fact that you now have stated the game is CPU based and not GPU.

That aside though it would be nice to have all options in the config file in the settings menu in game. An option to switch the load from CPU to GPU. And general optimization for the overall title. If people are having problems with the physics than maybe you need to suggest that people need 2 Graphics cards in the system requirements. One dedicated for graphics, and one dedicated for physics.

Also in your post about the upcoming patch, you talk about how the engine was optimized for the consoles. And how that's causing problems with releasing the patch. But the devil is in the details. Maybe a different engine would have been a better idea? Or do what many indie devs are doing these days, build your own.

Not to be the bastard, but Crysis and Warhead look better than your game and run better. Multiplayer and Single Player.

Game could be trying to run something with quirky math? Might explain why others and myself are getting bad FPS despite the CPU usage not getting to a high percentage. Some CPUs might be struggling with some calculations that other CPUs are not, and newer ones are able to just power through it regardless of weather they are struggling with it or not.. That might explain some of the super computers getting FPS anything below 60.

Would need a dev input on this thought, however..

They said only the Patch system was optimized for Consoles, not the entire engine.

Which CPU do you have and what clockspeed?

Can you really push a hardware curve with a first edition of Unreal 3 engine? I Don't think so. I mean I love the game, but I ain't gonna lie that it looks splendid for today's standards, so that's why I don't think it should run worst then games that do. And yes, I love your visual style, but that doesn't do anything with old engine capabilities that have a skyboxes from 90's.

Just for the info: Phenom 955, GTX 460,4GB DDR3, but I gotta play on low so I can get a "decent" 40-50 FPS, while minimum still goes below 30.

I'm also using a Q9550 overclocked to 3.8GHz and a GTX 470 OC'd and I NEVER, in all the beta and final release, got under 25 fps. Right now, on the smaller maps or in games without 64 players I get excellent FPS, around 55+. Sometimes as high as 70 fps. Only when I get in a map with 60+ players and with a huge draw distance does my fps average around 35, but on that same map it can also increase to 55+ in certain situations. I don't get how you could get 14 fps, especially on a map where I always get very good fps, 55+.

I have a five year old AMD FX-60 dual core with an 8800 sitting next to me that runs the game at a solid 50 frames per second
after seeing you say this, yeah I definitely am having some performance issues :p

but as an individual who is experiencing these performance issues I would like to say, I appreciate this post very much.

im curious, does this ancient set up really run the game at a steady 50+ fps? never dropping below it? I would find that just, amazing....

When I'm using my 2 cards in SLI, the physics get pushed onto the cpu.

This is a good post but there is one issue. I had no problems near the end of the beta, game was a solid 60 FPS, so what changed in the final release that causes it to be inconsistent on all level of details?
