There was some optimisation that Ramm said it would be implemented such as:

-new Umbra (no clue what is that)
-CPU overall performance optimised

Results are the same,no CPU no GPU gaining, but since I started on a an empty server GPU's are at 45-50% usage, once when server got overloaded with more people, performance on GPU's dropped to 25-35%.

I would like to know why our GPU's work less when they should work harder?

Here is the scenario, was before the patch and its now still here:

-45-50% both GPU's usage when around 10 people in server,90-100FPS

-25-35% both GPU's usage when full 60+ people in server,35-50FPS

So devs what you think is the problem here?

Its some kind of CPU bottleneck, which is why GPU usage gets even lower when the server fills up.

Not saying that your CPU is bad, it's just something inneficient happening in there.

Have you tried the latest drivers? 11.9 with cap1 works great for my brothers 2x4850's.

Before that he had to disable crossifre for the game to run at steady frames but now he can run at Ultra.

I'm sure my CPU can push 2x 6970's but I went with 6870's cause performance gain with the high end was minimal=not worth the extra cash.

I can see my CPU sort of sleeping too with 30-35% usage ingame, take out 5% for back ground things that they run,it leaves that the game is using 25-30% from my CPU,I would guess if I had the x4 cores that leaves usage of around 45-50% at most...

Its exactly what I have 11.9 CAP1.

Yes it fixed the CF issue where I was getting bad gameplay and worse FPS than a single card, but still there is the problem where GPU's usage is still at low,CF works better for sure and its not buggeed, but maeby has only 10% increase over single GPU.

There is something going on with the coding in the game if the GPU's start of 50% usage and then they fall a sleep at 25%,this should not happen.

Which is exactly what i get. I monitored mine with the aida64 cpu logging so i could get a percentage on how the cores were being used, the game uses around 40/50% of my cpu and nearly all the time 2 cores are just not used at all. As such this leads to the same issue you have with your gpu, it uses abount 50% and drops to 20/30% often.

I had high hopes fore this patch BUT it just seems that rather than actully making the game use cpus/gpus better they just droped the draw disance on textures.

For reference.
PII X4 @ 3.9ghz with a GTX480 @ 850/1700/4000.

This is another brink for me, i give up.

Yeah, I do agree with this. There's definitely something wrong with the game. However, the game does run better for me after the patch. It's at least an improvement.

Any body from the forums actually have a game thats build with UE3?

If you have some sort of a game like that can you please run it and check whats your GPU and CPU usage in game,if this is engine limitation then there is nothing that can be done for RO2.

can anybody test and monitor their hardware with UE3 game?

Yep still low performance for me'
Its higher overall but I still get massive hangs and fps drops

The trouble i recon (judging by what i've seen ingame and the patch notes) is that they are "optimizing" the maps for the better performance (texture draw distance for example, see other thread) rather that making the game use cpus properly so it will use gpus properly.

I don't think the people who are having cpu/gpu usage issues will ever get the performance we should be getting, as optimizing the maps (bascially lowering the graphics) isn't going to somehow make the game use our hardware better.

The trouble for me is i really like the game BUT i just can't play it due to it not wanting to work properly, it's such a shame.

I think Americas Army 3 uses Unreal 3 engine ,...although its graphics are less detailed & toned down compared to RO2,.... it still looks reasonable to me ,...& ,.....Its free....
I dont have playclaw or anything like that though so,....

yeah i just got done a 64 player barracks map, something that after the first few patches usually ran alot "smoother" but i found it definitely going up and down allover the place in terms of fps tonight.

GE and commisionares i also played, both of those were smooth as butter, but they always were some of the highest frames per second maps i found.

Just use the MSI afterburner and see what it shows regarding your GPU's.

Yea, AA3 uses the Unreal Engine 3 as well and is free to download and play. You can actually even download it off of steam if you want.

I am not sure though that it is really the game you want to compare with though, the servers get really laggy after over about 16-18 players and can really have a bad result on your performance. Most servers like to push it to 26 players in that game and it just can't handle it smoothly.

I did notice a slight performance increase (CPU- Q9450 quad / GPU- GTX 580 SC), but the frame rate still bounces around like mad and periodically will get stuck between 30-40, much like pre-patch. Hopefully there is more optimization/fixing the dual/quad core CPU support in-game.
