Hello all and Merry Christmas!

Since the Red Orchestra 2 SDK was released I've been expecting someone to make custom skins for this great game. Surprisingly, after months of the SDK being released as well as Steam Workshop support, there is still nothing. I have had enough of waiting and decided to take it upon myself to deliver the RO2 community some new skins at last!

To do this I have contacted resident modder Blitzkrieg Bob, who's help in this project so far has been invaluable.

Now, I can't promise anything due to my free time being very limited, but I will do my best to provide some new historically accurate uniforms as well as fixing up/improving the default player textures.

With all that said, no thread is complete without content. So here are a couple pictures of my first project - a Waffen SS skin and a pea dot camo version (both very much a work in progress). I'm not sure of TWI's policy on nazi symbols but I hope this can be seen as a display of historical accuracy and not as an intent to offend anyone.

Here is a small fix to add the eichenlaub/cocarde to the German officer cap. I will also be working on fixing the hero shoulder boards (which right now incorrectly displays him as a member of a panzer unit) and adding NCO collar piping. If anyone could point out some other inaccuracies on the uniforms it would be greatly appreciated.

I used to make skins back in CSS but I never knew how to do it in RO2..Is there a tutorial anywhere?

There isn't a tutorial that I know of, but you can extract textures from the game's packages (.upk files) with Gildor's UE Viewer

From there you can edit the textures with any photo editing program capable of opening .tga's. The hard part is getting your work ingame - a process which I'm still trying to figure out.

The eagle should be fixed, too, because now it is a Waffen-SS eagle. It is ok to remove the swastika, but please don't use an iron cross like TWI did, use either an x or a simple grey field.

1. No shoulder boards. Where did TWI get it?

2. Uniforms issued from mid-1942 already had field tabs and insignia - khaki color. Red enamel signs are gradually lost. The war led to a significant decrease in the number of regular officers, who were still able to continue fight with pre-war insignia.

3. Straps in front on helmets were not worn, especially in combat. It is silly.
If you saw it on the photo, it's pictures from '45, at a meeting with U.S. troops, where Soviet soldiers just as a joke want to emulate them.

There is still errors. If only someone would have to correct this.

Perhaps you could have a version with swastika, and a version with out, and people can use the one they prefer?

Just messing about with the wireframe model really, if you want to use it, because it now has gamaschen, or gaiters, and looks a bit more late war, just drop me a pm and I'll send it off to you, I'd like to see Waffen ss soldiers in a mod or mutator, or something, the textures are tripwire's and I've made a half hearted attempt at Waffen ss collar runes! I've got a helmet cover model kicking about somewhere, I'll have to dig it out though, but you are more than welcome to use this stuff.

I'd love to see a female Russian sniper skin :). I've done skinning for other games but would need to learn the mod structure of RO2, how to get them into game etc.

If you know how to rig a model, get in contact with Kaminski.
He has already done a huge amount of skins, but most models need bones to get them into the game.
