Hello Tripwire Community!

This fantastic creation - Red Orchestra - is the subject of a series of gameplay diaries on my new blog and is Game of the Month. I am a brand new player and have gone through the painful initiation (Why isn't my rifle firing again!?!?!? Oh.) of being a noob. These diaries not only document and half review RO but also record several matches in strategic detail. There's more to come, so check 'em out and report back here or on the blog and share your thoughts. :)

And after you played ro for a year..start playing clanmatches..its a totaly diffrent beast...good luck. Also, the map you described as "leningrad" isent that. Its "Smolensk Stalemate". And what computer you are playing on..turn up the detail for christ sake. :p

Other than that its allways nice to read something from beginners...reminds me of the first per weeks in ro...wich where some roughly 4 years ago.

Again good luck with your endevours.

Hey BlackLabel,

Thanks for replying! Not sure if I have lots of time to devote to a clan atm, but I am certainly interested in joining some organized battles (People you can trust to take it seriously and show some leadership!) and look forward to seeing the entirety of the game.

Oh, and as for the computer... its my work/internet computer and I had to make sure RO had a smooth framerate. Getting a gaming beast next week so hopefully its pretty then

@everyone else, day two of the gameplay diary is up with more of an in-depth look at the mechanics behind RO and how it could change and how it succeeds. Linkey

Next week I'll get a Darkest Hour one going and maybe a Mare Nostrum one. As before all comments and suggestions are appreciated!

Enjoyed the read, after one has played RO for quite some time, one tends to forget how awsome the initial experiences were, this brought back memories. Thanks! And welcome to RO. TWB*SlowBull

Yes - even being a veteran player of Project Reality the depth of RO is still overwhelming. All of the small details, and at the same time the utter fun of the gameplay (and thrill and immersion!) is something really unique. RO2 will truly hone it down to something which I *hope* will hit an even bigger audience!

For anyone who wants to see the final part it's up here. I'm putting together a Darkest Hour version and will post here once that's all up. Also be interested if anyone has any gameplay videos or stories then send me an email at gamersutd@yahoo.com.

A chance for some organized play might be the next campaign on http://www.easternfrontcampaign.net/forum/index.php

I found that as of late there seems to be a influx of newbies all around, it took some swearing on my part to get them into the capzones on "Fallen Heroes" but we got there sooner or later :)

Again nice writeup. Maybe you want to give tankcombat a whirl when you find the time.

I remember when I first played in 2006. I was lost and confused, not knowing where to go or what to do. I remember using the word "intense" quite often after the conclusion of battle. Once you get some time in-game you stop thinking about what to do and just react. Once you reach this point and you understand what is going on your're hooked. The RO community was pretty unforgiving with noobs, something I hoped would change. Noone gave me advice, noone really helped. I was pretty much on my own. Yelling "get into cap" doesn't mean much to a new player who has no clue what cap is and why he needs to get there. I must admit it's kinda funny when you see a new guy crawling on his belly when he is nowhere near the front line and there isn't an enemy in site.

Once in a while I see a message typed after a round from a new player that just says "That was intense" and I remember exactly what he means.

Just letting anyone interested know that the Darkest Hour gameplay blog is up. Sort of the same style as before, but taking a more in-depth look at the differences (good and bad) between the mod and the game.

Heh, I consider myself a veteran newb now... experienced a guy who ran a jeep head-on into our owns team tank today. At least everyone is apologetic! As for the campaign, I've been really eager to give it a go so I'll check them out. definitely. Yearning for some real teamwork matches.

I have to say, a good read and glad you seem to be enjoying it. Bummer you have the screens from your work computer though.
I do have a decent laptop... but the work one is the only one which can handle my G35 headphones (crashes my other computers) which *IMO* is a must for these sort of games.

Ah, the reminiscing of an old veteran... ;) I know what you mean, though. Some call ArmA a 'war simulation' and it certainly is its own type, but I feel RO truly simulates the warfare of the 40s, and the rush and heat of battle, and as such is the true simulator!
