Well, that's very assuring. Even UT2004 has more players than UT3.

For me, RO2 is lacking compared to RO1, hence I have been playing other games instead, I want the big open maps, quite a few tanks, I don't really care for interiors (main reason we don't have tonnes of tanks).

I know :p But at least it's something!

the thing is, it's similar for everything else too. there's not many people playing anything that's not bf3, tf2 and/or maybe cod4. Thankfully for all the other games out there, dice released that horrid patch that broke all the vehicles and suppression, so we'll be playing something else until they fix it :p

RO: Classic won't do anything for player numbers. I couldn't even find one shred of information about what Classic Mode even was. Tripwire do not know how to communicate. How hard is it to sticky a post called Classic Mode with this info?

I played a few days ago before quitting because of bots. Yes, you can look at the player list, but nobody is going to.

Anyway, RO seems to have been dying since the Berlin map was hooked! It was the de_dust of RO and was easy for newcomers.

More interesting maps will attract more people to play. Unfortunately(?) it's maps like Operation Overlord with cinematic moments that will attract the mainstream, and not ones based on real life geometry/battles with funny names like Provkohvz and Aridliazky.

I think they should just go the Mount & Blade route and make a solid base/hub game that can be modded. Then mods can be switched in/out from the splash screen.

Where do you think my link went?

Anyway, it's your attitude that will contribute to the death of the game. Leave it those of us who've been playing since the first UT mod to help improve the game.

Your link wasn't specific, I simply pointed to the single thread which described every change made in the classic mode.

And are you talking about my attitude personally, or just other people? I want this game to do as well as possible, I try and help out where I can with the game (Pointing out bugs, helping new players / members of the community). You cannot tell me to leave the game alone just because I didn't play RO back in it's mod days, I play this game more than you, more than a number of the people here (Not as much as others mind you :p), and yet i shouldn't have a say in how the game I enjoy may turn out? Please.

RO Classic might not make a huge difference in player numbers but i dont really care. I just want to at least play a bit of RO2 before it dies off into obscurity...

So far i've got 12hours in RO2 and im beginning to have buyers remorse. With classic mode i can at least get my money's worth.

your moms house!
The game is good. The game is getting better. The community has itself to blame for lack of players. TWI built the game. Some didnt like it and whined on every forum they could find....New people were scared off. Simple as that.

You can thump your chests saying you wouldnt have got classic mode if you didnt cry like you did... That may be true. However, even when im playing the classic beta, there are still people bad mouthing TWI about stuff from 5 months ago. Then you have others that cant even be bothered to download and give it it a go. Yet they can continue to torpedo the game at every turn.

Its time to either get on board or exit the room.....before you say but that will mean less people playing, I could care less. I would rather play with people are are actually enjoying the game than listen to the constant crying.

If you want to get more players, quit bad mouthing the game and start supporting it!

I'm all for constructive criticism, we need that even if some of us are tired of hearing some of it. A bunch of "Yes" men really don't help anyone.

But you are right, there are people who do whine over and over even in the Beta about decisions that were made long ago, even whine about those decisions that were changed or are in the process of being changed. Perhaps they feel that if they whine about it enough, time will reverse itself and the decisions can be corrected in the past, I don't know :p

Things definitely are improving in my opinion, its just at a slower pace than most of us would like. That is understandable from both points of view. Hopefully with the next game update there is a lot of fanfare to go with it and it will draw in more players, new and old.

I think most people here are worried that the game will never take off again with player numbers no matter how good it is (and compared to most games, its still pretty good) or what TWI does to promote it in the future.
