tbh I feel like the comeback will not happen. I hate to paint it black like this but I feared for some time that TWI were not quick enough to fix the game and provide us with a mode that is a sequel to RO1

I would prefer to stand corrected though and still have a little hope...

We shall see, hopefully soon....

I've tried the Beta, I don't like the way the controls are, they're too slow. Don't know if it's the sever dev or Classic mode, no choice of weapons, poop out after running for 10 secs or so, no zoom and no game settings at all. It's all a learning curve I know, but I still like RO2 as is way better.

The normal mode of play will still be available to play, and I am sure some servers will run it.

There's this free game called America's Army. They completely rebuilt it and version 3 was born. It was popular until a bunch of bugs were found. Player base dwindled and now it's been 3 years and there are some who still play but for the most part, the game is dead. Maybe 50 players on all at once - no bots btw.

It's only dead in terms of many players playing as they did in earlier versions, 1,000s on in one evening but when they changed the game and it had bugs, well, those players left and probably won't be coming back.

So I ask, to those of you who like this game (I am one of them) when is a game dead or like RO, does a small player base suffice to carry on. There are two sweet mods coming to this game but is it worth it?

I didn't expect the mainstream to get stuck with the game despite the awesome unlock system, the fancy stuff and all that crap. Living... means that the community plays it, e.i the majority of people on this board. I don't expect many random people to play it. I believe RO2 will a live for a lot longer than people think. Ro Classic will certainly help with that.

Free weekends etc. is fine but there's no point doing another big promotion (or a relaunch even) until we have a couple of bigger maps, more tanks and half-tracks.

There were "a lot" of player online, yesterday. 500+

But only 40+ in the Beta :(

Join the Beta, Now! (And feel the game much more intensive)

50 players in the beta.

Here in europe we have 2 servers, in one of them almost all the time they are CD maps playing and the other server always the new map..

I have played both several times but i don`t like CD, i prefer TE.

It becomes time that the original will be updated so we are forced to play the classis.

I am in, when the bots are removed.
I can't be bothered to play with bots in year 2012! I did it in the 90s what the f.
Now we just wait for the mods and the death of this game, which will come with this bot bs.

I would love to play RO but can't, because I can't find any servers in either browser.

imagine if they had this mode during launch. you think we would have had those 10,000 players still on? I'd be willing to wager we'd have a solid 2000-3000 on right now...

what. a. shame.

regardless, cant wait to pick up RO2 again once classic mode is officially released. i tried the beta, and i really liked it but i dont like playing 7 vs 7; hopefully more people will be on classic mode when its officially launched

I tried the beta and didn't really see what all the fuss was about, though I will admit it feels slightly slower-paced so may improve player longevity. I don't like having to re-download things all the time so I will just wait until the base game is officially updated and then download it then. Half-tracks and light tanks will improve the game a lot.

where are all these so called veterans who are waitng for "The Real RO" or "Classic mode" ?? Are they filling beta servers ?
I didn't see them. Yesterday I did see 60 players in the beta.
Now it could be I connect to a wrong game but thats what shows in my serverbrowser. So I don't see hordes of players return when the "Classic mode" will be released.

Its a pity but the reality. And to clarify. I'm not a troll....

I'm not trying to troll, but after 9 months of the "veterans" giving there opinions and being snuffed out, one might understand why they might be slow to come give it a try. So they have the classic beta out. I haven't tried it yet, been busy. I've heard it is really good, and that some of our opinions were also considered. It sounds like things are better, I might give it a try (again).

Yeah that's pretty much it sadly.

It's nice that Classic is finally comming, but it has been too hard a fight getting it here and it's come to late, and after there has been far to much bad blood between both fans and the Dev's, but also old fans and new fans, the whole bloody thing has looked more like a civil war than a game release, and people simply aren't done licking the wounds.

That includes TWI, you definately get the sense that they have been just as hurt by all this as we have, and they haven't been shy to show it, which has just caused even more problems..

The whole thing has been a public relations disaster, and this community is torn apart as a result, people have either walked away in disgust and utterly written both Ro2 and TWI off, they have lost all interest and moved on to other things, they have simply stopped caring anymore after so long of beeing told that they are insignificant (0.001%) and to just sod off if they don't like it, or they are taking an extended break from the game and the community alike, because right now it's just hanging out of their throats and they've had enough, or people still feel this is just not enough, what with features like the MKb still beeing in Classic mode, and dismiss it entirely because of that (yeah people are refusing to even look at the beta because of the MKb, both because they hate it, but also because they view it as symbolic of TWI still refusing to listen and still trying to "CoD it up").

It's bad timing, but that's just where people are right now, and pretty blue wishes arent going to change this.

This whole damned community is in bad need of a couples therapy session or something, but it's simply not going to happen overnight, the bad blood won't just wash out with a quick rinse.
And if TWI ever wants the happy community/Dev relationship that existed before Ro2 back, then they have some pride to swallow, they are going to need to be very flexible if thease burned bridges are to be mended again (and before anyone says it's "unfair" that TWI has to do it, just realize that they are the only ones who can, the community is an amorphous blob of individuals, it cannot come to a unified consensus or plan of action, but TWI as a company can).

But honestly, i don't even know what succees this can have anymore, i really don't, maybe i just can't see the forrest for all the trees right now, but i'm all out of passion for this game, i'm burned out, and i find it so very hard to care..
