You can't blame players leaving just on performance issues or stats not working. There's no doubt some are bailing simply because the game is too challenging. Not much instant gratification in RO2[except for maybe the most skilled players].It's so much easier to just go back to racking up casual twitch kills in CoD or whatever than it is to deal with RO2's steep learning curve.Myself I'd rather be getting owned as I learn a superior PC shooter like RO2 than owning people in some arcade console port.

Once things such as graphics optimizations and being able to choose between your unlocked upgrades has been worked out, then you'll see a big stream of players coming back.

I still play it daily with my friends and only thing that we're waiting for is the fix and reset of stats. That's our only major complain, since the game does not reward you for your progress and skill, you get someone else's credit.

of course the numbers have fallen off the last few days. this game has an older fanbase and they're all working during the week.

Seriously though just had two awsome games on the 40-1 server which prove when this game works its untouchable... (im starting to wonder if a lot of performance issues are server related/netcode etc)

Now if every game was like that, the uber guns were fixed and (yes even I must admit it now) the stats are fixed.. Untouchable

Don't worry mate. The player base may dip during the holiday season, as there are a lot of big releases rolling through. I know I'm shelving RO2 when Batman, Saints Row 3, and Skyrim roll out, but I'll be back. RO2 has a lot of replayability and staying power, especially given the strength of it's mod community and the loyalty of TWI. Come the spring-summer games drought, I reckon a lot of people will come back to (the now fully patched and playable) RO2.

WW2OL (Battleground Europe) is not hardcore. It used to be, but they sold out too.

What happens to the game is up to the modders, or perhaps TWI will drop back and punt regarding all the arcade features.

RO was not succesful because it was hardcore. It was succesful because it offered a never-ending series of puzzles to the players. It required itself to be played, on an authentic stage. That's it.

Unfortunately, the gaming population in general is not mature enough to handle that. I blame developers.

It is a very sad state of affairs in both gaming and society in general when games which require a player to play the game (as opposed to the game playing while they press a button once in a while) is called inaccesable.

TWI missed a real chance to make a gaming statement with RO2. They had the backing they needed, but in the end...who knows what the decision process was.

One wonders if RO was the way it was because TWI had foresight and commitment to authentic play, or because they didn't have the resources to copy everyone.

RO2 is amazingly easy compared to RO1. There are no puzzles. A huge dissapointment, but I will stay here, because I have faith that it will be modded in the spirit of authentic wargaming. I sincerely hope TWI is part of that effort.

Maybe we are working on something HUGE?

Huge? Another optimze patch that kills FPS? Or our content that couldnt be made done at launch? Not nitpicking, but honestly, the lack of communication is what kills this company. Forum post are good, but your news, changelogs, and overall trying to hype up your fans just fails

I usually try to bite my tongue where this sort of thing is concerned, but a lot of you sound like nagging spouses who nit pick and nag the life out of any and everything. Nothing will ever be good enough for the likes of you, and you'll just keep going until you've driven all the joy out of it, then point the finger and blame others.

Some communication would probably do well to heighten peoples moods.

Indeed. Communication is key. Any "huge" thing that isn't annouced is just going to be too little too late for alot of players.
TWI, prior to release there was plenty of information available from you, now we get nothing.

I will never preorder anything from you guys ever again.

Yeah I think once they fix all the bugs the playerbase will climb up a bit. . I myself am waiting for stat fixes plus with big games like bf3 going into beta I would expext the population to drop a little temporarily. But I love RO2 its a fantastic game. I will have no trouble seeling this game to my buddies once things are running smoother.

Unlike CoD, getting kills in HoS != being good at the game. There is a steep learning curve. Just because you can kill other players doesn't mean you're effective in the game. I can camp in one spot and farm tons of kills, but that doesn't mean I'm being a particularly useful player. In the same token, killing legions of bad players who are trying to run-and-gun doesn't make you good at the game either.
Did I even mentioned kills? Nope, you do, I didn

Believe it or not, that sort of thing, combined with tactical movement does seem to be hard to learn. As well as things like not juking around in a doorway while three people behind them are trying to cover the door from proper positions. That's just so bad.

Well I for one will stay with this game until RO3 comes out.
When the game eventually will be fixed, couple of free weekends (maybe, because there was some with ROOST) and it's all good again. I'm sure of it.

So don't loose your hope, sun will shine again.:D
