Very nice, funny, and original indie RPG coming to Steam. The concept is to play an RPG from the Items shop NPC point of view (with a lot of humor).

I tried the demo and I got completely addicted. You should download it, its available in its Steam site:

http://store.steampowered.com/app/70400/

It has a 10% discount with the pre-order (and the price was already low)

Here is an RPS preview on it (where I discovered this gem):

Ew, Prejudices.

:IS2:

It's not a prejudice anymore than not liking cel shading or abstract art. You can't expect all people to like a certain style.

With that said, I'm also of the opinion most anime looks childish and redundant. Some exceptions: Cowboy Bepop, Ghost in the Shell, Princess Mononoke. This falls into the former category. I pass.

I'm not expecting people to like the style, and the prejudice lies in that "the style" becomes such a strong turn off to not even give the game a chance.

Example: I don't like first person shooters, but I don't have any prejudice against them, that means, I still look forward to RO:HoS and don't come here saying: Ew, an FPS

Edit: I do have a prejudice with Modern Combat games tho, those I really hate, and it would take a lot of brainwashing to make me play them, as I'll discard them on sight, just as Lemon discard this one. No matter how good the game turns out to be, so yes, a prejudice is a prejudice.

Despite the fact that I dislike this style of Anime, it sounds like a real giggle. I'ma try the demo!

Gameplay is most important but it's not everything. Graphics and presentation hold a lot of clout as well and any game that presents itself like this to me I'm just plainly not interested in. If RO or Mount and Blade for example had cartoony Spongebob Squarepants style graphics I would not enjoy the gameplay nearly as much. The atmosphere would be drastically different. For others it might work, but for me no thanks.

EDIT: I'm also not saying I hate cartoony graphics. Minecraft is a good example of a somewhat cartoony (although mostly oldschool) graphical style that I'm fine with. I really just don't like what Anime styles such as this represent. It look so unimaginative. Any number of people could have drew it. It's not unique. If you take comic books and compare the art style between prominent artists who work on things like The Walking Dead, Goon, and Spawn you can see a definite change in style. This style anime is all the same. Big heads, big eyes, simple lines, small noses, small mouth, big mouth when screaming/crying/etc. Boring as hell.

Wow, sudenly the forums turned into a like/dislike fight :p

:IS2:

Its inevitable when you post anything Anime related, I saw this coming, but I still want to advertise this game, because I want it to be as successful as possible getting more people to know it.

@Kaner: See what I mean with prejudice?, it doesn't stay at the style itself, it goes beyond the style generating a lot of negative thoughts associated to it that discard any possibility of enjoying the final product.

I have my own prejudices too so I understand why a lot of people have theirs (but understanding them doesn't mean I have to like them)

I didn't intend Lemon to like the style and I still find appropriated my response to his post. Which adds nothing to the thread but gratuitously bashing the style just like he almost religiously does every time anything Anime shows up in the forum.

The need to express his aversion every single time, goes beyond "not liking" to the realm of "trauma".

Edit: I don't intend to make any of you change your minds to like something that you don't like as I understand that it would be a waste of time, just like you would be wasting your time if you tried to get me to like modern combat: "It is harder to crack a prejudice than an atom" -Albert Einstein

My intention was to make you understand my response to his unnecessary comment.

Dude, but it's not an unnecessary comment nor is it "prejudice". We're talking about a game. Graphics are a part of a game, to some a more important part than others. He doesn't like the graphics soooo he's not interested in the game. What about that is unnecessary?

Well, I've tried it out and failed to make the first payment. :( The tutorials in this game (which is pretty much alike to every japanese game) were a total pain in the ***.

It was certainly good fun and quite enjoyable. I think I may buy it if I can. :)

It's amazing how different forum cultures can be even in the same ballpark.

I post too much over on the Dwarf Fortress OT forums, and this game hit them like an orgasm bomb. They love it. I've yet to try it, and didn't mention it to you guys over here because I didn't think it was quite your speed :p I'm tempted, but that style of anime has always been a big turn off for me. And I like anime (obviously.)

because his comment doesn't mean "I don't like the graphics" it means "I hate anime" which everybody knows already, and that's why its unnecessary

Apparently it's really a fun twist on the classic dungeon crawler. You have to be looking for a certain amount of humor...but the shop management is a lot of fun, and this is from people that don't necessarily like anime.

But whatever. I'm reading just as much kneejerk reaction to the look as I'm reading defensiveness over anime.

true, but that doesn't invalidate the facts I posted above. That only makes me notice how he bashes it at the minimal chance he gets.

It's not that I hate anything that involves Anime, I hate anything Japanese.
Kaner is right, seeing that particular art style lets you know there are going to be squeaky 8 year old voices. That's not a prejudice, that's simply what that art style aims for. Some people like it, others don't.

Hating anything Japanese IS a prejudice, and I'm proud of that. :)
