Realistically, which tanks/vehicles would you like to see? (in terms of future DLC)

Germans:
Panzer IV (already confirmed)
Panzer III
Panzer II
Stug III
Marder I/II
Sdkfz 222
Sdkfz 251
Opel Blitz
Pak-36/38/40

Russians:
T-34/76 (already confirmed)
KV-1
Su-76
T-50
T-60
T-70
BA-64
Zis-2/3
Zis-5 (the truck)

All perfectly good suggestions, but I'd also like to see the SdKfz 234 "Puma" for the Germans. They'd be great reconnaissance vehicles for larger maps, and their 50mm gun could even take out a T-34 at close range! Anyways, I'd also like to say that I'd rule out both the IS-2 and the Tiger I. The IS-2 for the obvious reason that it wasn't around until 1944 and the Tiger I because it never made it inside the city of Stalingrad. I know this may upset some fans of the Tiger (I'm one of them too) but we're going for historical accuracy here. The only Tigers in Russia at the time were all the way near Leningrad, and there were only four of them. I just wanted to get that out of the way. Anyways, Nezzer's suggestions are great. I'd definitely like to see those in the game along with the Puma that I already mentioned. :D

Absolutely. If something like the Kubel came out it would be ESSENTIAL to make it extremley vulnerable to small arms fire. DH gets it pretty good. A MG burst to the Engine would kill it and most likely wound or kill the passengers.

If we do see the Hanomag, it would be nice if it was rendered impervious to regular small arms fire as DH did.

I agree, but what for trooptransport's did the russians have? Giving the germans an sdkfz251 impervious to small arms fire and the russians an truck with only canvas 'protecting' the soldiers wouldn't be excactly fair.

The Stalingrad campaign wasn't fair.

The Stalingrad campaign wasn't fair.
Quote brothers in arms: 'Sometimes war isn't fair, but a videogame should be'. But that aside, i like the idea of realistisc maps where for example the russians don't have a shot at winning. That said, i know that most gamemodes will be fair. So that leaves the question, what vehicle is fair for the russians?

That's the trigger word, isn't it?.

But I understand. Lend Lease Bren Carriers weren't too common yet so I don't know. I personally think, if a Nation did not produce a class of vehicles that one of its opponents did... you should not try to "balance" it. Balance in video games is pretty much the same as having two teams with all the same strengths and weaknesses but with... different skins.

This isn't the case in war. Both sides had their unique advantages and disadvantages.

If you really wanted to go into it, I'd think that the only map where Soviet forces would NEED transports would be the tank level. You claim that SdKfz. 251's without a comparable Soviet vehicle would be, unfair? So be it. But give Russian forces a way to get around this. Earthworks, ample amounts of terrain depressions and gullies, ruined villages and the like. Seeing as the tank map will most likely be in the fields West of the city, you would logically be having the Soviet forces defending.

Give them fortifications, give them cover, give them what they had!

Touching on armored battles... I'd like to see future content packs that focused on certain areas. The thing with Ostfront was that it covered the whole war, but focused on almost nothing. If you look at DH you'll notice a superbly made set of Ardennes maps based around the advance of Kampfgruppe Peiper by SchutzeSepp. I understand a variety of maps should be in the first release, but future releases should see a detailed set of maps based on the area surrounding one of the original 10. There are so many great scenarios available to HoS mappers that aren't in the city proper.

I've gone off on a tangent. I'll just reiterate what I've said in other threads. Make MAPS, not LEVELS. 1:1 Maps and accurate loadouts based on Unit TO&Es will balance themselves out.

.

People need to understand that, look at the T34 and Panzer IV for example, the T34 had a better main gun, armor, engine ETC, but the Panzer had a radio, better ergonomics, better optics, better vision, room for a dedicated commander ETC.

I hate it when in games they make the Sherman and Panzer equal statistics, or they make a semi automatic rifle take 3 shots to kill someone ETC.

As i said, i like the realistic way but i don't think everybody wants that. So maybe it should be a game mode? I don't mind playing a map that i can't win. It's realistic and i like that.

Some of the maps would be awesome like that, not all, but some, I don't play video games solely for the thrill of winning to compensate for failure in real life, I play video games to do things I can't do in real life, like losing a battle on the eastern front of WW2.

Indeed but i must say, if i die in RO i don't mind. If i die in bc2 i get ****ed up. I don't know why, it's the atmosphere i think.

I know, and in bc2 a tank's gun has a range of 300 meters top. But what i mean is that in ro2 you fight for your team, in bc2 you fight for your stats. But we digress, i don't really have a special tank that i want to see, i want a tank that was in Stalingrad at the time.

Agreed I got Battlefield Bad Company 2 and thought it was better at first, but like you said its about stats, I don't give a :IS2: if for example I have an Steyr Aug, and I can upgrade to the FN2000 which looks different but has almost identical statistics, and the tanks were just score boosting shells, to be discarded when damaged.

While HOS is set in Stalingrad, I think more maps will be released of different battles so we'll get different tanks.
