Yeah people seem pretty torn on sci-fi weapons. I personally don't mind them.

In all honesty, im also fine with with energy based weaponry in KF2. preferably the weapons look like prototypes made in Horzine's weapons labs and not yet been cleared for mass production.

A good example would be the Deus Ex: HR laser rifle.

A bunch of exposed parts and wires about and poor ergonomics would make the weapon look believable for a kind of a near future prototype weapon where humanity is taking it's first step onto producing a functional portable laser weapon.

For more advanced weapons like plasma or zed guns, maybe that should be seasonal event DLC content

I'd love another way that zeds could be annihilated aside from bullets/explosions/blades/fire, even though that is a lot haha
Imagine an arc-type gun that is basically a lightning rocket launcher that makes use of the aforementioned obliteration system and converts zeds into a fine mist/giblets district 9 style
It could arc to multiple enemies in a chain after the first impact, but does less damage the further down that chain
That would be pretty original I think

OP is obviously (in my opinion) trying to make himself sound smart and cool by throwing out all these gun names that I don't even think 1% of people know what he's talking about which I think is the definition of pretencious. Not only that but the idea of realism in a sci fi game is ridiculous and this guy seems like he is just trying to get more attention for himself.

But that is like just my opinion so ...

you clearly haven't seen the more hardcore realism bandiers around on the RO2 forum. I just want the game to feel nice since realism is one of their stated goals in the interviews (the stated 9mm vs 5.56 disparity being fixed), and they obviously care about it more.

You may not care, but I'd like to see a weapon set that fits the theme given the full tripwire treatment (eg, animated at the crazy detail that they like to describe)

regarding sci-fi weapons, I clearly stated in the OP that I was fine with them? did the tone turn you off after the first few messages? because in my opinion if you don't read the entire op you shouldn't really reply.

No way would a futuristic GAME stoop to weapons NOT MADE IN THE SAME COUNTRY!

US adopted a norwegian rifle a long long time ago

No way would a real life COUNTRY stoop to using weapons NOT MADE IN THE SAME COUNTRY!

.. it's just I'd like the base weapon set to be European as opposed to primarily American.

British SAS have been using the M16 series longer than the USA. French SWAT teams and SF units don't use the FAMAS either, opting mainly for some AR variant (often the HK), SIG or SCAR. PAMAS isn't a regular 92FS (think it is decocker only?) and French police have mainly dumped it for the SIG Pro.

All that being said, it is a zombie game. It doesn't matter too much, although having more authentic weapon choices is always nice to me. More SIGs, ARs, CZs, HKs, FNs and less Desert Eagles, no name brand guns, Kriss Vectors or whatever.

Over here, no not there, here.
Come to think of it, drones would actually be a great way to handle something like this. From a gameplay perspective might be wierd I guess. But since the thread is talking about realistic themes- drones wouold be a good way to go about it in reality :p

You keep saying that like someday it will make any sense, just by the sheer power of repetition.

You keep suggesting features copied from other games not even in Killing Floor's genre, suggestions that are disliked by the majority of people on this board and repeatedly judged to not have any value to add to the experience of the game or even potentially make the game worse, yet you keep coming back and making more garbage posts in the hope that some day you'll make a valid suggestion, just by the sheer power of chance

You mean in the situation of a specimen outbreak? It's true, drones would wreck zeds unless the husk was somehow able to shoot them down (he can't hit a jumping survivor at 5 metres soooo)
But it would make for crap gameplay, lets call in one predator with hellfire missile = wave 11 complete

I have to agree with Rizzy, I don't see how drones is a good addition in the name of realism.

I just don't think it works well with KF at all. I mean, remote controlling an airborne machine that rains down hell from above?

I hate to cry "Call of Duty" as it's become a bit of a buzzword here, but it's so far-gone from what seems to be the intent of KF.

A drone that's effectively invulnerable to all but the husk and patty. It may only really be balanced by either a short period of active use (reeks of killstreak bonus crap) or by having weak guns, in which case, why bother?

Oh no it would certainly be awful for gameplay I agree there, I just think that technically it's actually less 'Hollywood' than what we do right now :p

Why do you keep lying??

Machinist class:

-class locked semi-automatic pistol, extended magazine with an attachment for drone guidance and initiation for remote control
-gun drone, limited ammo, flashlight, burst fire
-grenade drone, limited grenades, with the possibility of suiciding, deploying all grenades at once, which means purchasing the drone anew

Due to limited ammo capacity, the drones would only be used in emergencies, so the class would be burst damage or critical situation resolvement.

How the hell can't you think for more than 10 seconds about this?

Why would any of that be bad??
Goddamnit, I really despise mental stupor and reflexive repelling of anything new.

Because people have this thing, called imagination. They can actually imagine the consequences of such additions. And it tells them that for example adding a giant squid as a melee weapon to whip zeds with it is not a good fit with KF, even though it's definitely something new and original.

What does a squid have to do with cheap useful drones?
Are you going to embarrass yourself now with blatant non-sequitur foolishness instead of constructing a compelling counter-argument?

1.) How is voicing one's opinion lying......

2.) I personally think that drones would be bad for killing floors gameplay, there are plently of other ways to deal with emergencies that would be 1000 times more fun then some boring drone.

If KF2 follows the pattern of KF, and a lot of games with a serious or grim dark theme....the game and the first couple DLC will be in tone, and from there on things will get progressively more whacky/out of the original theme. Everyone wins. I don't begrudge a game the right to be silly or break boundaries, as long as they give me a chance at the unadulterated experience first. Look at Blood Dragon. Base game = in-tone. DLC = Total change in tone.
