I honestly am having a hard time understanding why this kickstarter hasn't taken up. Maybe it's because of the success of Takedown (http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/355932838/crowdsourced-hardcore-tactical-shooter?ref=live) which is very close to what Groundbranch is trying to achieve.

Anyway I hope they will succeed to reach their goal.

Some differences between Takedown and GB:

Takedown will be a co-op and then SP focus first.

Takedown will be CQC exclusively with map and squad sizes similar to SWAT 4. GB will be more like GR with outdoors and larger maps.

Takedown has only just started development, GB will be finished within months (8 or so) after the Kickstarter assuming it gets funded.

Plenty of differences. Worth backing both.

I am not sure why this has not taken off, I think it is mainly because people are tired of Kickstarter campaigns.

I didn't back Takedown because there was no content on the Kickstarter page whatsoever...unless I missed something. And if it's coop and sp focused first and mainly indoors, then I'm even less interested. Good luck to them anyways.

I doubt people being tired of Kickstarter is the reason. It's too soon after plenty of projects have gotten funding. It wouldn't just suddenly cut off. I have no idea what the deal is though. The GB Kickstarter page is great. It's got loads of content that looks great even if its WIP plus they tell you exactly what they're going to do with the funds.

You didn't like SWAT 4/Raven Shield? That is what Takedown is supposed to be like. There will be PvP, though I personally don't care for it in such a game. PvP tends to be unrealistic and less tactical no matter what gameplay mechanics you tack on. Though development has started, which is good.

Though I do think the Kickstarter idea has gotten old. I've seen many posts in the threads for GB saying "Yet another Kickstarter?".

As for modding, Takedown is using UE3 as well. I hope this means it will be easy to modify content for both Takedown and GB (assuming it gets the funding). More mods for both games is good for everyone.

What I do find sad is that GB has a working game, where as most Kickstarters do not. And some zombie game raised a similar amount of money that GB is asking for with ease. Another zombie game, which is such a tired and over done genre.

Never interested enough to play SWAT 4 and RS I only played multiplayer.

Then you might not be interested in Takedown. Though it will have PvP. Just that the first thing they will work on will be co-op. From what I understand the PvP will be round based (no respawns) and there are no classes. More than likely there will be no specializations either. Community is generally against the idea of specializations so Serellan will probably not add that feature to the game.

Sorry for going off topic.

Even though I prefer GB's style of things, this does still sound interesting but I need to see content. The way I get interested in a game is first look at content, then read features, then read dev interviews. First you see demonstrable skills in the form of content, then you make sure they have a solid game design, then you make sure they know what the hell they're talking about. GB has all that covered in great detail from the get go. TAKEDOWN I didn't get past step 1. That promo video was rather cheesy and had no content. GB there was no nonsense. Just the creator being like, "look here's what we're doing, sound good? cool, back us". Boom loads of content in your face.

I agree, Takedown's KS page was rather lame. Though content will be seen soon though. :) Development has started and they chose UE3 over Cryengine 3, which means porting mods between GB/TD might be possible.

One thing I do like about TD is how the community can shape the game. The name, logo, PMC unit's name/logo, and even specific features and weapons have been chosen by the community.

Though GB has a bigger overall scope, or at least I get that impression. Both seem like good additions to the genre, a SWAT style game and a GR style game. Though we still have to ensure GB makes it...

Sadly the larger media sites do not seem to be picking up GB. Which I find odd because there is a wealth of information and plenty of ground work done.

Reading that Reddit thread is disheartening to say the least. Plenty of people don't get it...at all...

Then set them straight. :)

Yeah agreed, "I really fail to see what this game is bringing to the table, ARMA does it all way better!"

I chuckled at one post that said "ArmA does everything in that video". Because we all know ArmA animations NVGs, the low ready position, and such a detailed weapon and inventory system. ArmA 2 doesn't even have weapon animations.

I like how they split up step out and leaning. RO2 only has step out and it's so slow and useless in so many situations that I've stopped using it at all.

PRIORITIES!

How about you work on AI and a cooperative gamemode before you worry about different sounds for different magazine types falling on different surfaces from different heights?

I mean, yeah, those terrible other games sound awful but aren't there more pressing areas to improve when you're struggling with your budget?

What's the point of working on AI if you can't afford the program you want to use for it yet? You'd have to scrap everything once you get it.
Right now what they are shooting for is a good and innovative MP title, not co-op or SP because it takes too much money to do it properly instead of half-assed. And if you've got the chance to do something else properly in the mean time, why not go for it? God knows it adds a lot to the overall feeling of the game. When that magazine hit the concrete I nearly shat myself out of joy. Immersion is key to the GB experience, and thus the sound department is a wholly justified goal to pursue imo. These guys HAVE thought about what they are doing, and when and why they are doing it. Have some faith :)

Backed the project with $30. Not too sure what gametypes will be in and I am not a fan of round based if thats what it is going to be but I backed these guys anyway as I like what they are doing and this game deserves to be made.
