Real night fighting for HOS

The Russians had an advantage in night fighting among the ruined buildings and factories, sometimes using just knives or grenades instead of guns. The Germans use night cover too for bloody house to house counteratacks. The intensity of night darknes in houses was sometimes terrible when enemy soldiers run to same doors (boom).

EXAMPLE: 25 Jul 1942

Sixth Army made an attempt to rush Stalingrad through the depleted 62nd Army and still deploying 64th Army (Beevor, 1999; Clark, 1965; Erickson, 1993; Fowler, 2005). For two days the Germans attacked during the day with air cover, and the Soviets counter-attacked at night. Dust storms complicated the operations.

sadly very true, otherwise I'd love to see some night fighting.

As long as there are no lights on these maps from street lamps or other lamps inside these bombed-out buildings (see RO:HOS screenshots from magazine ) except from fires ...

So often light needs to be added to maps and this always seems out of place given the damage to the cities and obvious blackout rules if electricity was still available. The problem appears to be how to lighten a map without sacrificing realism.

I dont know anything about this.
It not so much that he says the russians have an advantage during night time, its more like they have less of a disadvantage during nighttime.

They should have night maps, but make them have enough twilight to not cause anyone to change their monitor settings.
I'd like a realistic-darkness option though, just for fun.

a simple post of "urban night fighting would be cool" would have worked just fine. i think that is the point Russ is getting at. and yes, some close quarters battles in ruined buildings would be very fun as long as there is just enough lighting so that you can see where you are going.
