before you go getting all in a knot about the fool who tks you in a video game think about this little snippet showing some real class during an all to often teamkill. what makes this "NP" the ultimate in classy is that even after his whole platoon was wrongly attacked (1 killed, 38 wounded) this tough ass soldier is able to brush it all off and actually feel sorry for the inept tk'ers. this soldier shows true class kids, he should be a role model. after all, most normal folks would only hope and say that these inept tk'ers are punished quickly.

one can only wonder why there is any canadian presence in the stan.

Just because most of the Canadian population doesn't want our troops over there doesn't mean they don't kick ass and chew bubble gum. There's not much gum in the desert though so they make up for it by kicking double the ass. :D

It doesn't make any sense to be angry at the Americans. It could have been Canadian soldiers strafing Canadian soldiers, British, anyone.

That is the gun of the A-10 warthog....the whole mechanism is the size of a small VW. :(

"Depleted" infers that it's not radioactive anymore. That said, the stuff is poisonous, but then so is lead (which is obviously NOT radioactive.)

It ****s that this happened, and I'm really impressed by how the people involved are reacting.

I have to agree with what someone above said: blaming allied troops for a mistake does nothing. FF happens, it's bad, but it's a fact of war, especially a war with no fronts.

(The pic got me going...)
The GAU-8 "Avenger" cannon is cool. The A10 was designed for this gun, not the other way around. Armor penetration is somewhere around 69mm at 500 meters, 38mm at 1Km.... at 3900 rounds/minute.

The plane is pretty amazing, too. Designed to make the engines harder to hit by SAMs (the missiles should hit the tail structure first), the plane can fly with only one engine, half a tail and missing half a wing. Not one of those, but all three combined, it's still supposedly capable of limping back to base.

Sage, not only is it apable of returning but I have witnessed a hog returning with similar damage. a 47 mm direct hit in the port engine, another direct sa-14 hit in the fuselage that took out all three hydraulic systems as well as an unexploded sa 14 still stuck in the wing just aft and left of the port landing gear pod/refueling point. This plane was flown almost 45 minutes after the damage was incurred and landed uneffentfully. A superior piece of airmanship to be sure, but he would have been walking back at best in any other a/c but the hawg. As for the friendly fire incident, we had a similar event in the first round in the catbox. it is a brutal and painful reminder of murphy's laws of combat. Only thing more accurate than incoming fire is incoming friendly fire....
