no love for the LAR......sad. you cant beat the headshot dmg and those open sights.

anyway, i mostly play zerk and from my experience, a SS who shoots and kills every zed im clearing attacking is very annoying.

however, like most people said before me, if your doing your job (taking care of scrakes, FPs, husks) and not killing 90% of the specs, i have no problem with rambos.

What's worse than Rambo Sharps is a whole team of SS working together. Makes the game boring. I was playing farm on suicidal and there were 5 SS (all level 6) and one medic (also lv 6) camping outside the U-shape building. 1 or 2 sharps guarding the back door and everyone else facing forward. There were a few bows, but the majority had m14's and killed everything from miles away.
The only time we were damaged at all was when everyone was crouch/jump dancing to music someone was playing over voicechat. (Final Countdown, Pkmn theme song in Spanish/Polish, that sort of thing)
Patriarch went down quickly too, without pipe spam.

If you ask why I participated in such an easy game, it was to get the achievement. If I have to stoop that low to earn it, then so be it.

Rambo SS is only annoying if you use 1 hc.

because this:
hardboiled.jpg

is awesome.

Rambo Beserkers are annoying if they go and get overrun then cry for heals at the other side of the map.

And rambo is generally annoying if it leaves a gap in a good camp.

What i'd like to see is the scoreboard become perk-specific.

Like Sharpshooter wouldn't get to see how many kills (s)he has made, but how many headshots.

And Medic get healing done, for the love of god i wanna see how many points i heal.

Commando can have stalkers killed.

Demo w/e

Zerker, melee kills.

You see my point. This would shift the game to more of a teamwork orientated game, away from a "MUST GET FIRST, MUST GET FIRST" mentality.

This way people can focus on teamwork, because kills become irrelevant.

I can tell, that most of the time, if someone using the M14, we'll gonna wipe somewhere in Wave 7-10 because of:
- no other SS with Xbow is in the team
- he abandon his Teammate which get overwhelmed
- he dies far away from the camp, leaving us with additional crowd
- killsteals everything w/o sharing his money.

I don't have anything against rambos. But they should not endanger the entire Squad by playing rambo.

I'm a level 6 sharp and I like to go out Rambo style with a handcannon.

I did that starting from lvl 2 SS when I found out the recoil from Deagle wasn't all that bad anymore. But that only lasted through the first 3 waves, when easy **** appeared. Then I switched to xbow and concentrated on the big baddies and only paused to take out crawlers on me or near me while I let the rest of my team take care of trash.

If a Sharpshooter is more concerned with killing trash to boost his score and doesn't focus on FPs and skrakes... I'm going to start getting annoyed.

What I usually do when I hear skrake or fp or husk (because I turned music all the way to 0, I find it a little annoying) is I tell them to run to my specific location while trying to keep said skrake/FP/husk going in a straight like so I can aim.

Guess what? Most of them nade spam, shaking up my screen so I can't properly aim. Most of them die, and I kill the fp afterward because it's finally standing still a bit. Surprisingly, none of them have *****ed specifically to me about it.

Yes! Except demo could be how many he killed in one shot with explosives, not spamming tons of nades. Although that would be kind of hard to track, programming-wise, methinks.

Nice suggestions there CandleJack!
But i can't imagine how that would fit into the scoreboard :( Maybe if the statistics would REALLY exist with KF, that would be a great thing to have.

I think it's pretty simple. Whatever the class is, the scoreboard will correspond with something like this:

SS..............125 HS = headshots

Medic..........345 Heal = hp of teammates healed

Support.......57 Kw/Sh = kills with shotgun weapons

Commando...24 Stalk = stalkers killed

Firebug........1423 Burn = hp of specimens that they burned through

Demolitions...35 OHK = one hit kills with bombs and nades, specimens with 50% hp or less will not count for one hit kills

Berserker.....89 MK = melee kills, nothing else

How do those sound? Because all TWI really has to do is extend the scoreboard screen horizontally by maybe 50 pixels to fit in like 5 characters (as with Support's Kw/Sh) at most.

shotgun kills is being kind to the support, I think, since they amass a lot of kills that way, and likewise, stalker kills isn't so kind to the commandos--they don't get a lot of them, despite their perks.

IMO support should be either damage done or kills-per-shot, commando should be close support kills (kills of nearby enemies attacking other team members)

SS could be either headshots, or High-Value-Targets killed... aka, fleshpounds, scrakes, husks. I for one don't want all my team's sharpshooters running around trying to rack up their HS count on clots with the EBR.

demo could just be gibs.

Wow, that could seriously remove the EBR spamming. +1 :)

I only find rambos annoying if they get themselves killed early in the wave. Otherwise, they draw heat from your squad, so really they're contributing just as much. One time I took hard wave 8 on the roof of offices with AA-12 and crossbow, and one of the guys camping one the first floor asked why that wave was easier than 7. Personally, I prefer to stay with the group _and_ get the most kills. That should be quite easy as a sharpshooter.

Exactly. I hate the whole group barricade strategy, so I will fight out in the open. Everyone is welcome to join me if they want. So I'm not going "rambo", I'm just fighting in a different area. But I'll usually end up killing 1/3 or so of the mobs, which means the main group had to kill 2/3's. Helps the group.

That would be absolutely awesome, because it makes people focus on their perks JOB instead of randomly killing any ZED as quick as possible.

However, I do think it should be a tad different.

I made a new thread in the ideas & suggestions board because else I think I'm derailing this one too much.
However, it's not visible yet as my post has to be approved first.

Think you can derail a thread, take a look at this one http://forums.tripwireinteractive.com/showthread.php?t=41815

Don't want to derail this thread so back on the topic. Don't think the scoreboard will make a huge difference... money will do. More money for headshots... less for body shots.

Personally, I'm a team guy. I hate it when I get stuck with rambos in suicidal, regardless of their perk or skill. I've had plenty of games where my team has agreed to fortify an area and one of our guys gets bored because he's not leading the scoreboard. These characters then abandon their posts to steal kills from the rest of the group, or just stand at their post and try to cover the rest of the team from that post, neglecting the halway or room they're supposed to be covering. The team gets ambushed from that post because the person who agreed to cover that post didn't like being second on the scoreboard and in suicidal it can be hard to recover from ambushes.

Take the offices for instance, first floor the main hall and stairs in the back corner. Played several games where a rambo wants to hold the stairway, but as soon as the wave starts rambo either heads up to the roof or stops watching the stairs to join up with the guys guarding the hall entrance. Heck, I've had times where rambo actually goes behind us and opens the sealed door so he can try to take all the kills behind the door, then either dies or panics and gets the entire team wiped.

Ramboing is fun, and a lot of times it's the only way you can get the exp you need since there are so many kill stealers these days, but try to be smart about it. This means stop "rescuing" team mates who clearly don't need it (exp. the story about the guy sniping the clots for kills even though his friend clearly had his area covered), help your team mates when they do need it (stealing another example from above, crawlers attacking them from behind), and keep in mind that if you steal all the kills you're also stealing all the income. And a note, since I play medic 9/10 times, don't expect the medic to abandon the rest of the team to chase you down and heal you.

Annoying rambos is precisely why I hate any difficulty below suicidal. Suicidal soon weeds out the rambos, putting them where they belong a the bottom of the scoreboard.

As far as I'm concerned (when I'm playing with friends this is) if I'm leading the scoreboard I'm not doing my job. I play with people who always use classes well suited for chewing up the hordes of trash. My job is to pick off anything that could be a threat to them. Only when no threats are present will I be plinking away with my 9mm farming random crap for kills/money.

I also have zero respect for the M14. As far as I'm concerned it's a weapon designed to put the SS squarely in another class' role (it's also hideously overpowered so extremely lame). My loadout for SS is always either Xbow/HC (dual HCs in a close quarters map) or when I feel like mucking around, I use dual 9mms, dual HCs and an M14 for backup (sooner or later both sets of pistols run out of ammo, and dealing with scrakes/FPs with pistols is a bit silly :p).
