Radar on RO HOS - Big Error of Tripware

All I can say is:....

2) When you see something in your peripheral vision, it looks blurry, and you are often not able to figure out what it is. This detector tells that it is a friendly. So it is not actually working like it does in real life.

3) All it does is add clutter to the screen. This kills immersion. I'd rather have people playing carefully and tactically, checking to verify visually if it is a friendly or not. Not having a detector tell them that the person who is coming up behind you is friendly or not...

Remember they said that a player can bring up or hide the HUD with a keystroke. Also, why are you assuming that a visual indicator will automatically be displayed as friendly or foe? They haven't said that one way or the other...

I definitely agree on sounds helping to indicate whether there is someone there or not.

Perhaps it should be repeated that everything experienced in gaming is a form of digitlalized illusion. (?)

If you're unable to seperate the real from the fake, then you're missing the whole point and purpose of gaming.

Btw, hear about the Counter-Strike gamer who hunted down an online opponent in real life, because he had killed off the guy's character?

UNBELIEVABLE!!!

Sounds are nice but some of us are still rocking the 4:3 and could use some kind of peripheral indicator.

Real solders didn't have this sort of thing obviously, but they also weren't effectively fighting with blinders strapped to their faces either.

Nothing wrong with my two speakers here. They're only 10 or so years old.

I can hear if someone comes from behind me, or from my left.

I am pretty sure they said the indicator thing will only detect friendlies who are close by to you... if that is true, then that element of gameplay is gone. If he is on the detector, he is on your team.

I also thought they said it would be on in the realism/hardcore mode.

Will the "radar" show enemy's positions, shoots, etc...?

When you kill someone, the range in meters will be given out. That is in addition to the red flashing indicators (think GRAW 1/2 PC).

Unless, or course, this has changed since the video.
