My favorite character/real person after Captain Speirs. Frankly shocked Speirs didn't get the medal of honor for his actions.

It's sad, in several years all the WWII heroes from the 'Greatest Generation' will be gone...

He deserved that Medal of Honor for sure if you ask me.

I'm pretty sure it's because he requested it be private and unknown until after the funeral which was on Jan. 8.

One of the greatest non fictional characters I've ever come across. A great man and an inspiration. I'm glad he found that peace he promised himself that night in Europe if he made it back alive. RIP Mr. Winters.

yup the world lost a great hero. the number of living WWII vets is getting smaller and smaller by the day

This really made me upset, I know he was 92 but I wish I could of met him, he's truly an inspiration.
