I love the M14, powerful and accurate but I will miss the garand's "CLING" sound when a clip is empty. Nothing is better than that sound.

When we were showing the game at PAX, we were still using almost 100% placeholder sounds, many of which were just reused from RO2/RS1. The M14 not only looks very visually similar to the M1 (especially when you're using the sights), but we also had it using the old RS M1 audio, so the confusion is understandable. As others have said though, there's no M1 in this game at this time. Maybe if the ARVN make an appearance in future then it'll get in, but for now it's wholly superseded by the superior M14.

I think they confirmed it to be an Ithaca in their update post about the White Phosphorous grenade. Unfortunately it seems their forum updates broke that post so I can't confirm that.Gang Scraked;n2263086 said:Although not confirmed in the PAX build, I believe I saw the Ithaca Model 37 shotgun in the video below.

There is MORE?!!!Jackett;n2263475 said:Correct on the M37 Shotgun - PAX wasn't the 'final' weapons list at all, it was just everything we felt comfortable showing back in March/April time.
I could see those guns being fun to have as dlc's for the purpose of novelty, but there's no need for them really.LeBrun;n2263720 said:Hope that the MAS 36 (or but that's just a dream , the FM 24/29) will be in the game for the VC

The North Vietnamese will be fine with the Mosin Nagant as their one and only bolt action rifle.
As for the FM 24/29, it wouldn't hurt to have a second option for the machinegunner class, in addition to the RPD.
However, a belt fed RP-46 or Type-58 would be a better choice than the FM 24/29.
LeBrun;n2263822 said:But for the RPD it's already a belt fed ( yes an awkward one but a belt fed machine gun) and i don't think that they will put a second one because american only uses M60 (so one belt fed for each ) but if they want to put more i think that RPK or Vz 59 would be good also. And for the FM 24/29 it would have a place only if the american/ARVN has the BAR (both of them are "automatic rifle" that were used at the beginning of the conflict). An other possibility is that they don't care to find equivalent weapons between faction (and that's not a problem for me)
When you say 30 weapons, are you referring to guns only or are you referring to all weaponry including equipment like grenades and mines?[TW said:Wilsonam;n2264380]Keep in mind that we don't go completely nuts on weapons on the first release of a game. Fun as it might be, we can use the resources better elsewhere than producing 5 subtly-different bolt-action rifles. Expect more/weirder variants after release! The main aim is to get a good range at the start. From memory (which is shaky at the best of times, not helped by vodka at this time of night) we're looking at something over 30 weapons at launch.
