Hi all,
I'm looking for any information on Skulpturny Park. Of particular interest are the buildings outlined in green. Any pictures of the park would be great as I can't seem to find any on the interwebs.

Actually, it works very well for the buildings. Many of them are still standing. Regrettably, the park hasn't been restored to the way it looked before it was destroyed :)

The problem is much of the battles on the eastern front was undocumented. In some cases its really hard to find any maps or even reference to them.Since most of the German intelligence files was destroyed towards the end of the war.As for the Soviets much is still classified and may never be seen.

I wish you luck with your project ...from the pic you already have and google earth images you might get an idea of the layout of the park. Just use your imagination to fill in the gaps...Being mostly undocumented no one will have the data to prove you wrong ;)

From the book В. А. Жилин "The Battle of Stalingrad: chronicle, facts, people, Volume 1" page 700. ;)

Evening Post October 7

37 Guards Rifle Division, 84 Armored Brigade and the remains of 112 Infantry Division were engaged in heavy defensive battles with the enemy advancing towards the village of the Stalingrad Tractor Factory. By the end of the day 07/10/42 he went to the line of streets Surkova and Ustyugskoy, Sculpture Park (Skulpturny Park). The day of battle destroyed up to 4 infantry battalions and 16 tanks. The further the enemy's advance stopped. 42 Infantry Brigade went to the line - two separate houses (north-western part of the sculpture park).
Рosition of the rest of the army is intact.
