I just need to know what contributes to the damage that needs to be done.

Does incendiary grenade damage count? It says flamethrower damage and not flame damage but since incen. grenades are firebug specific I'm not sure. If not I'd rather just get the headshots to level up my sharpshooter for the first round until I get to level 5 firebug.

Also, Does the DPS burning count or just the initial flame projectile? I'm pretty sure it does but I'm asking just in case.

good questions I would also like to know. However with the amount of success you are likely to have with grenades on wave1, you are probably much better off using sharpie for first round. However a level5 firebug absolutely dominates wave1.

Yes, I meant with the pistol. Until level 5, you can't even get the flamethrower in the first round.

if you already have a lvl 5 perk, i would start wave with that, sell weap then change to firebug so youll have money to buy flamethrower. sharpshooter used to be really good for making some quick cash because he started with dual HC, but now he starts with a winch :\

What makes you so sure there's no flamer headshot bonus? I've done considerable suicidal bloat grinding to get my firebug to level 5, and whenever a bloat gets too close, I flame his face. He dies at least twice as fast this way. I suppose for other specimens or lower difficulties it just doesn't matter, but a suicidal bloat has a serious number of hitpoints so I heartily recommend the flame facial treatment ;-)

I refuse to level it anymore until it becomes a better class to play. I'm so sick of the Flamethrower by this point in my KF career that I just can't use it anymore...

1) Yes firenade damage counts

2) Yes the residual burning counts.

**As for those arguing over whether or not the flamer has head shot extra damage capabilities I say no. If you pay close attention whenever a head shot occurs you get a specific, notable sound that is different then when you get a body shot. I've used the FB quite alot and I personally have NEVER heard that "head shot sound" while using the flamethrower. Believe me I've tried aiming for the head as well.

i) Just because there's no head shot sound, doesn't mean the flamethrower can't do head shot related damage

ii) Would you expect a real flamethrower to make a sound like that?

Every weapon has a headshot multiplier, so I think it does get headshot damage bonues. However, if memory serves, it's around a thousand times smaller than all the other weapons and it cannot remove heads. Extra damage is there though, I think.

Think about it though...if your head caught on fire don't you think you'd die faster than if your leg was on fire?

If your torso caught fire: you'd die a lot quicker as well, there's a massive surface area compared to the head/leg and there's organs inside which are close to the front (As well as, the front doesn't have a humongous bone in place to stop damage- ala skull)
