Ok, so I have a bit of a technical question. How does the game credit you with damage? Is it based on the specimen's total health, the health of the part hit (head vs. body) or damage done by a weapon? I'm mainly asking because for leveling where you need X amount of damage, it can make a tactical difference.
For instance, a Gorefast in a 1 player game on Normal difficulty has 25 head health and 250 body health (according to the game's wiki). And the katana does 167-255 base damage with a normal swing. Now, if my berserker hacks off a Gorefest's head, would I get 25 damage toward my total, 250, or would it be 167-255 (plus the perk bonus and headshot damage multiplier where applicable)? It's helpful to know whether I'd be be better off hacking at the bodies of enemies (since in this case the body has 10 times the health) or if decapitations would be better (killing faster). If I only get the 25 damage counted from a decapitation, then kills by body hacking would level me 10 times faster, but if I get the full 250 regardless of head or body, then decapitation would be better since it's faster. And if it's purely damage regardless of monster health, then it really doesn't matter.
Hope that makes sense.
