RIght on mate. I for one will be hosting a totally newb friendly server at the max player count possible, much like WAR IS C3LL back in the day. I want to help and encourage new comers to the game, not drive them away by being overly strict.

Just don't make it danzig 24/7 again plz :p

I am not even sure if it will be early 2011.

Honestly, the game looks pretty finished on the surface.

But for all we know, they might have only finished half of the content (maps, weapons).

I have a feeling it will be sometime in 2011 though.

For all we know TWI was planning to have the big beta released before the end of the year. This seems to have moved to sometime after the new year. So a Q1 release does make sense, as you don't run a big 20k people beta for a lot of months.

So my guess is still late Q1 early Q2

I don't care if they release it in Q1. I'd much rather them release it Q4 and have it be polished to perfection and released at a strategic time when no other major shooters are coming out. Releasing it on the 17th of June would be cool though ;).

If it comes out earlier then I thought, I won't be complaining much. :D

But really, I am thinking of one game I have been looking forward to that has not been delayed... not many come to mind. :p

If Tripwire makes the beta accessible in Q1 for people doing a pre-order of RO2, they create a win-win making money early while every serious RO-player will definitly click that pre-order-button with both fists.

If that is the case, it doesn't really matter when the final game is released.

So Tripwire, go for the win-win situation :D

Yup, payment through Steam on pre-order. Other company's are doing the same. It's a very commercial approach, but the real RO-gamers will not care, they will buy the game anyway and are all eager to get in the public beta...

win-win !

Correct me if I am wrong, but I could have swore that they said Big Beta by the end of the year?

Maybe it was just beta by the end of the year.

Meh. :confused::(

ITT:

People who think they know better when the game is ready to be released than developers and distributer (IE, steam).

I just hope it doesn't come out the same month as BF3 or another big multiplayer title, it will be impossible to beat EAs marketing.

I think if this was to happen

Red Orchestra 2 would fair better later on. What I mean by this is

The quality of Battlefield only holds people for a short amount of time whilst it does get a HUGE influx of players within the first few months. Because of that its only reasonable that the % of the players which stay will be higher than most other games.

But this doesn't say anything about the people who stop playing that game.

---

I think Red Orchestra, having more features, will hold players for much longer. Those which stop playing call of duty and battlefield may migrate to Red Orchestra and get captivated.

Those players are leaving for a reason. A reason which is similar in both CoD and BF series. As we know, Red Orchestra is not like these games. For starters, 64 players......Thats a BIG dynamic change in online play.
