If you hate cheaters then you will love the fact that RO2 will have Punkbuster along with PBBans real time banning AND announcements on your server who has been globally banned while playing the game. It's a great feature.

I rather deal with the few problems and fixes of those anti-cheats then having a server full of cheaters.

I can't get Enemy Territory Quake Wars to work anymore because Punkbuster keeps kicking me from EVERY server.

This manual updating BS has to stop, punkbuster has always be annoying as heck and yet there were still cheaters in americas army.

Nothing and i mean nothing is bulletproof, but PB is one of the best anti cheats out there and combined with active admins and VAC you'll see very few cheaters.

Its not hard to update manually and more then often when folks have issues with PB its because of something on their end, not punkbusters fault. Point is, you're better off with it than without it and if you dislike it just find a server without it.

Just like it did with all the other games. Its the most annoying and intruding thing ever, and it should only be like that towards cheaters. VAC is enough.

Then play on a server that only uses VAC. Problem solved. You're complaining about nothing. Why is this thread even 4 pages?

Punkbuster has too many updates, you get kicked for no reason. It's one issue after another. They even kick because of cretin drivers on your computer. Your just opening a gate way for hackers. VAC I barely see any hackers. Punkbuster it's a way different ball game. Just my two cents.

PunkBuster worked awesome the last time I used it. Granted, it was a while back with Battlefield 1942.

There was a HUGE problem with cheating, and as soon as PB was implemented it made the game 1000 times better.

If I got great pleasure from cheating on games, and if I liked to get a good laugh from frustrating the serious players then I would come to this forum and complain about Punkbuster, and hope they somehow change their minds about implementing it.

Yes because I would like to have an auto updater or at least a notifier to update PB before I start the game I am a cheater......

.....that makes a ton of sense.......

Do we need cheat protection? Yes, we do. Does it have to be annoying? NO! I also never saw anyone cheat in VAC games, not that that's proof but it can't be that rampant.

I can only speak from my experience with BF1942 and the original BFVietnam. It's been quite a few years since. It worked awesome back then, I mean just awesome.

So, you're saying it no longer works well?

Banning cheater it does quite well, I just wish they would make it less annoying.

I am not a developer, maybe auto updating is dangerous or whatever, but a little desktop notification that new updates are out sound reasonable.

Question is will the website that sells cheats ever going to make any cheats for RO2?

As far as I know there isn't any official cheat made for ROOST so far that was sold anywhere,or Am'I missinformed?

I've been running servers with PB and PBBans since the COD1 days and it's without a doubt the best way to keep the cheaters at bay. Some will always slip through the net but I'd rather have that extra level of protection - it at least stops the vast majority of cheats which schoolkids download.

That's not to say PB is perfect, because it isn't. I've found it particularly frustrating in the Battlefield games, having to reinstall PB manually many times.

I think the RO faithful have got so used to playing with the current core gamers it's easy to forget how many cheats you encounter on the more mainstream games, and I applaud TWI for giving us a game with VAC and PB out of the box. It should be giving everyone confidence in the support this game will receive.

Naysayers die!

However IMO PB DOES need to improve it's support, and give casual gamers in particular a clearer understanding of what they need to do if PB stops them playing a game...I know many people who've given up on a game because of PB and that issue needs to be addressed more concisely. Perhaps with TWI as a client this will be the perfect opportunity for PB to increase it's level of service and have a more casual friendly face...

if you have any problems with it ask for help
its almost for sure a autoupdate problem ( that takes 10 sec.s to fix)
or its your firewall

cheating is a massive problem and im very glad TW and pbbans have gave us gamers the tools needed to help fight it

look at how often PBbans.com and punksbusted.com gets cyber attacked thats prove enough that it works .. and works well
"user" asked me to quote sources
and i said

its a observation that ive made over the last 10 years of being around game forums that support punkbuster

but heres a fast link when everyone was scared to death pbbans was shutting down to to cyber attacks
http://gibthis.com/news/2815-pbbans-shutting-down.html

i dont think you guys know who bad the cheaters are
RO1 does not have the player count to really seal cheats and make money for them
RO2 could see them numbers and get more attention from cheat makers

we are VERY LUCKY to have PBbans ... punkbuster is really pretty weak without it

and the cheaters hate that community ban list

here it goes again .. the cheaters doing what they can to hurt the honest gamer

I agree, it needs to be more user friendly.

But seriously, TripWire could do nothing to make me not buy RO2. I am not a naysayer, I just want better "user friendliness".

Nothing says fun like having to disable Steam Community just to be able to play a game.
