PunkBuster will ruin the experience

I hope they make it so punkbuster does not kick for having fraps or the steam overlay on, since RO2 must use steam, it would be quite annoying always closing the overlay from the options when you go to play & alt tab when you want to chat to folks :l

The only game where I have seen that done is Bf2, but that is because an update has never been released to fix that. Why dont we place a friendly bet for something minimal like 100$, if PB kicks for steam overlay or fraps you can take my 100$ else you owe me; because I'd call that the easiest 100$ I ever made...

I personally didn't like PB either however TWI is working with the PB devs to make a special version. We also get VAC in addition to PB + PBBans and then we have admins to take care of the immediate situation and anything that slips through the cracks. PB is going in game, why ***** about it. It is not going to change, anyone crying about PB should save their breath and wait until the game is released.

As long as during the installation of the game and its files, it' includes the absolute up to date client for Punkbuster. Then I imagine their will be no problem.

However if this is not the case, and Punkbuster talks about outdated software... We'll be playing Rope-a-dope outside, and it is very uncomfortable to body slam a keyboard.

I only get angry at PB when it misbehaves. Like in older games when it thinks the Steam overlay is a big bad malicious background program, or when finding the right version for a certain game.

PB was fine in Bad Company 2. But I'll never forget the BS that everyone had to go through with it in the original CoD. Blah.

I never ever had an issue with PB in BFBC2 neither, and I bet I won't have any in RO2.

I understand the reservation of some towards PB, which as someone pointed out quite right used to have its flaws especially in for ex. Bf2.
On the other hand as remarked already too, successful more recent incorporations of PB led to some undeniable successes such as in BfBC2.
So how about giving it all a chance and first glance and then judge the results.

Pretty much how I see it, and if it is a problem, then Server admins have the ability to turn it off or reduce it's function, a Win, Win situation as far as I can see

I've never even seen a hacker in ROOST... and if there's going to be punkbuster at least allow the steam overlay, the BF2 version really annoyed me.

Just like it did with all the other games. Its the most annoying and intruding thing ever, and it should only be like that towards cheaters. VAC is enough.

I played Battlefield 2, Battlefield Bad Company 2,Call of Duty and UO,Call of Duty 2, Call of Duty 4 and World at War and had problem once when I switched to Win 7x64 ,On another hand VAC exclusive games like MW2, Homefront and Black ops were ruined by hackers .I personally prefer PB dedicated servers and good server admin combination to VAC only any day

Well the Anti-Cheat systems will be optional to the server. So if they are really bad expect to see servers without them.

I am looking forward to seeing lots of protection though. At the moment there is a hell of a lot of cheating going on in PC games.

Only problems were with BC2. Still getting kicked from EA servers as well as PB enabled servers.

Next to that only some manual updating on some games.
No problems whatsoever with VAC.

I know there are some problems but I think op is blowing it out of proportions

When you look at it, the inclusion of PB and PBBans streaming was a very wise choice, I just hope they will make it work well and that there wont be a lot of problems with it.

But anyway, there really isnt any other choice, VAC itself isnt enough.

if you have any problems with it ask for help
its almost for sure a autoupdate problem ( that takes 10 sec.s to fix)
or its your firewall

cheating is a massive problem and im very glad TW and pbbans have gave us gamers the tools needed to help fight it

look at how often PBbans.com and punksbusted.com gets cyber attacked thats prove enough that it works .. and works well

pb does do a decent job so does vac (you will hear more pb voices as half of there admin team are on here lol )

but in the real world they are losing to cheaters .

both of these detection could work well or be a nightmare but with the four settings i think the highest setting cant or wont be used as they may conflict each other.

guaranteed first day there will be aim botters and wall hacks like any other fps game.

the usual silly ones will get caught straight away while the paid good ones will just do like in every other game online remain undetected

On a EA or Activision forum I would fully agree. However It is ideal for a smaller company that pb and vac exist.

I'd rather put up up with 10 punkbusters than with 1 cheater in my games.
