I've played games with this anti-cheat before. Each experience was more horrific than the last. I promised myself to never again pay for a product that had this game-ruining program included.

I urge you to inform yourself. It's not just hilariously ineffective, it's invasive and will hamper your gaming experience more than any hacker.

You don't have to use it. It is an option along side VAC. Players and server admins can find what works best for them.

Its not compulsory you muppet! Game comes with 2 anti cheats, and most servers are running only VAC2.

Whats that you don't understand that streaming bans coupled with realtime scanning are the best passive ways to counter hacking outside of having active server admins?

It's been no secret for weeks or months that RO would use punkbuster. So you either totally missed that, or decided to wait and carefully time your "principled stand." Could have saved yourself the order/cancel order nonsense and just skipped this game altogether.

Im seeing this alot in game most people just whine about this and that and they forget their playing a beta game. Also TWI is never done with a game even after release. Its good to bring bugs and problems to the attention of the dev's but to spend more time in game b'ing about things rather than testing maps/gameplay isn't going to help.

For example I remember way back in ro1 when granades could destroy tanks didnt take long for them to fix that. That's why TWI is my favorite developer they actually listen to their fan base.

So try to be patient people and enjoy the MANY! good qualities of this game and not get so hung up on minor details and doing CRAZY things like canceling pre-orders.

I for one am happy the devs are trying to go the extra mile to keep the game hacker free, having so many cheat detection solutions is a good thing. Who cares if you had bad experiences with punkbuster in the past maybe it has gotten better? It's a company that is trying to help all gamers, they are doing a good thing. No one wants cheaters running around at 100x speed with auto headshot ability etc. But if you're going to be a huge baby about it then good riddance.

It's more of a principle. I do not want Punkbuster in other games I enjoy and the only way to achieve that is for them to stop getting paid.
So why the heck not support those games that has PB just as an optional? Does not that fit your "principles"? Seems like your troubles would be gone if more games were like RO2, OPTIONAL PB

PB is always optional !
Its up to the server admin to enable or disable PB

On every PB game you will find servers without PB

He does not want to support a game that has PB in it, I can understand that.
PB isn't doing this for free.

I self preordered RO2, with the intention to keep it :)

I wish people would stand up against stuff like the Patriot Act with as much determination as people do when it comes to their "principles" in gaming :p.

Hah, no kidding. If people got as passionate about politics as they did about gaming the world would be a very different place...

If you like to play with hackers, go ahead, anticheat is optional.
